I think the has come very soon from the last fight, the deal looks like it has been struck some 7 weeks before the fight. I believe it is someone who can be easy to deal with (i.e. someone on SN books or someone who has fought on sport network shows).

For me the fact that Showtime are not showing the fight has left me fairly convinced that Hatton's next opponent will be.

This makes sense - Showtime are not interested in the show, but it could easily make a PPV event here. 4 well known in Britain, evenly matched guys - especially if something happens with the WBO Light Welter belt.

that would be a cracking domestic clash along the lines of eubank / benn.
i cant see it though, witter is too dangerous an opponent for a fighter like hatton, hatton has everything to lose and nothing to gain against such a cagey opponent. even if ricky won his stock wouldn`t shift one iota in the states.
he may as well take on mitchell.

It wouldn't really be like Benn/Eubank, because I believe the 'powers that be' want Witter out of the way, whereas Benn and Eubank were both pretty well liked by the powers because they both sold out arenas.

Yes, but regardless of opponent the fight is not being shown in the states so why should Hatton fight a dangerous world renowned opponent.

A Witter would achieve more revenue in Britain because it (with Calzaghe vs Johnson) will be on PPV (and will get a decent buy rate). Witter will have got about a much recognisition as he's likely to ever get stateside if he wins on Friday - the European belt is respected.

Finally, given that both Hatton and Witter have been scheduled to fight for the interim WBO belt, I am sure something could happen there - a WBO title, although not the most respected belt, is getting some respect stateside. More and more writers and now reporting on "average" champions such as Daniel Santos - DeMarcus Coreley was held in a similar regard (in terms of champioship status) as Vivien Harries. A WBO title would mean something.

It will also prove something to the FW critics, and wasn't there something mentioned about a Witter fight being in Hatton's contract. Witter might have done himself a huge favour by publically saying he can beat Hatton with 2 days notice.

All my own thoughts though, just guess work.

well the way i look at it if the yanks are turning down a marketable fighter like hattons next fight they must know who the opponent is.
so if the yanks dont feel the fight is competative enough for them i`ll be f****d if i`m going or getting it on ppv.
i admire our american cousins, i really do, their hardnosed attitude is why they get the big fights, and why the waitresses come to them with their booze and they dont have to stand at the bar for half an hour before getting served.

I do hope you are right, I doubt it, but I REALLY hope your correct on this. If this fight doesn't happen ASAP no matter what Ricky goes on to achjeve people will always say "Well he never did fight Witter did he, I wonder why?"

Yeah right, so Warren who wouldn't give Witter a shot at Hatton when he was his own fighter, is going to give Mick Hennessey and Witter a leg-up by offering them the chance to wreck Hatton's gravy train....

I think Witter is a free agent at the moment.

Its still very unclear as to whether Junior is a permanent fixture in the Hennesey stable.

It also involved an operation to remove a couple of ribs or taking up yoga unless severing is invovled.
