Craig Christian charged after airport search

Post by Marlin »

http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0,21598,24216243-2761,00.html wrote:PERTH boxing identity Craig Christian has been arrested for carrying a bag that allegedly contained a handgun, drugs and cash at Perth Domestic Airport.

Police allege that Christian arrived at the terminal about 11am on Tuesday, where he intended boarding a flight to Sydney, and placed his baggage on a conveyer belt where it was security x-rayed.

Security staff noticed a suspicious item they believed to be a firearm and Australian Federal Police then carried out a thorough search of the case.

The officers allegedly located a semi-automatic pistol and a magazine loaded with seven rounds of ammunition, a shoulder holster, methamphetamine in a toiletries bag and a big quantity of cash.

Organised Crime and Gang Crime Squad Officers and the Dog Squad went to two houses in Balcatta and Stirling, where simultaneous searches were carried out.

Detectives later charged 43-year-old Christian with aggravated possession of a firearm and possessing a prohibited drug.

He will appear in the Perth Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

Craig has done a fantastic job with Kickett. And from everything i have heard about him, hes a nice guy. So credit to him there.

But most guys wouldn't carry a loaded gun and drugs into an airport. (Foul Play). Maybe he was set up?

P.S Whats Coffin Cheaters?

I like that you judge people by your own interaction with them. It's good to make you own opinion on things and people. But, without trying to sound condescending, you should also consider past history when considering what goes into the fabric that makes up a person. Some people who i have met, who aren't the nicest, sometimes comes across a different way. I am sure we all have similar experiences.

Choffin Cheaters are an outlaw motorcycle gang. I think that some footballers have also been associated with them.

You have got to be kidding. They set up is own suitcase with a false bottom concealed with all the stuff, then planted $40,000 on the boxers with him? You know, that sounds kinda unlikley.

The Coffin Cheaters are an outlaw motorcycle gang widely connected to the distribution of meth/ecstacy/heroin within Western Australia.

Why the hell would you try and smuggle a gun through an airport these days? Seems like too much risk, moreso than the drugs...the cash shouldn't be an issue.
You'd probably have a better chance mailing it to yourself a few days before you leave and picking it up from a pre-arranged spot when you get to your destination.

EDIT: Or if someone else posts the same thing while you're writing your response with a better idea - ride a bus.

Craig is lucky he wasn't caught in Bali, otherwise he will be singing:

Don’t blame it on the moonlight
Don’t blame it on the good times
Blame it on the boogie
