After a year-and-a-half layoff, Eric Esch, a.k.a. “Butterbean” (77-7-4, 58 KOs) will reappear in a Blackpool, England ring Sept. 14. Butterbean will take on Brit Mark Potter (21-5, 13 KOs) for a European belt.

Its Poitier.

Potter.

I'm telling you its Poitier!

[silent] Potter.

Del, who is that Sydney Potter or Sydney Poitier?

Well personally, I'd say it was Harry Belafonte...

I wondered why Sydney Potter kept bursting into song, I'd dont like Harry Belafonte.

The best one for me was when Rodney was going out with a much older woman, who turns out to be the wife of a complete nutcase:

Del: So, Rodney, how old is the bird you are seeing.

Rodney: She's a bit older than me, Del, she's mature. About 30.

Del: What do you mean about 30? 30? 31?, what?

Rodney: She's 40 actually.

Del: FORTY? Blimey, she's even too old for me!

Grandad: Even I would have to think twice!

Superb.

Thulani Malingawould be 53 now. I remember steve wood having a conversation and mentioning sugar boy malinga as an opponent for someone, possibly a vip fighter. Whoever he was talking to was shocked and he replied, oh, not the one that fought benn, its another one. Im sure theres one based in or around the north west. I coud be wrong, perhaps it is Thulani...

That article is a bigger heap of shit than Butterbean himself and is full of more holes than his defence.

Just writing off a press release and/or taking the word of those involved at face value. I hate it when local rags have boxing stories by non-boxing writers, i.e. they just give it to a 'beat' reporter and nobody in editorial knows any different. I used to work on a local paper in South London where somebody had interviewed Wayne Llewelyn, who had told him he was the former "New York champion", added 10 wins to his record and erased two defeats. Luckily the article went through me, but 9 times out of 10 you get the kind of guff seen above.

Where the fk did Butterbean's quoted record come from?

Is Mark Potter "Britain's hardest hitting heavyweight"? Maybe on the unlicensed circuit... which nobody seems to be aware this is part of.

In fact, I'm off to remove this fight from the BoxRec database.
