Did he beat Victor Ortiz too (although I think Ortiz is a year younger)
Re: How good was Khan's amauteur competition?
Didnt think so, although cant be sure - are you talking olympics or throughout his junior am career too. He only had 12 odd senior amateur bouts didnt he.
Wasnt the bulgarian the euro champ at the time? Or at least in the top 3?

I don't think he fought Ortiz in the Olympics, but heard he fought him somewhere. I was just trying to establish how good an amateur Khan was. Was he top class, or did he get a bit luck with the draw and a weak division etc.

He fought Ortiz in a US tournament, PN, I think. Possibly Junior world champs.
Re: How good was Khan's amauteur competition?
He didn't win a senior ABA title so his opposition cannot be considered top class.

he didnt complete one either, he fought and beat watson then dropped out citing ticketing issues...

Winning an Olympic silver makes him top classRoco wrote:He didn't win a senior ABA title so his opposition cannot be considered top class.

Aduley Harrison won gold. I guess that makes him "top class".
