Is LV in Pacific time or Mountain time? It doesn't even start for us in MDT until 11:30PM.

81KG - Chinese boxer received a gift. Egan should have won, but the red button must have been broken on all the judges scorepads or at least a couple of them so 3 couldn't be pressed within a second of each other.

Should put a smiley after the above - the sarcastic one. 8)

There's nothing sarcastic about it. That Chinese joke got a complete gift, he was being protected and gifted the entire tournament. That Obreja guy wasn't lying it looks like.

A Gold Medal in boxing doesn't worth anything anymore from what I've seen in these Olympics, the sports judging is getting worse and of course Obreja has to be telling the truth, we'd have to be blind not to see the kind of bad judging that went on in these Olympics. I would love to see these goof turn profesional just to see them get a rude awakening.

Agreed, the sport is a joke. You've got jobsworths who won't ever speak bad about their beloved sport, but everyone with eyes can see how bent the sport is.

You could say that about boxing as a whole though. Pro boxing is crooked too. It's unfortunate in the amateurs because guys aren't being paid but it becomes a national pride thing.

But still, 9 times out of 10 with mainstream boxing, the fights are entertaining.

If you were to watch even the World Championships from last year or the US Nationals or Golden Gloves, they can be quite entertaining as well. But you have to remember amateur boxing isn't about entertaining crowds necessarily; we're not being paid for it.

Nonsense. You try getting into an amateur event without paying.

Yes, you often must pay to get into an amateur event. How that translates into a fighter purse is a different story altogether. I mean, I can pay $5 to see the local high school football team. I don't think that means they get paid.

Frankly, no. Then again, your point really didn't have anything to do with what he said. Amateur boxers only have to worry about themselves. It doesn't matter how ugly you win as long as you win. They're not going to get a berth on the national team for being fun to watch, only for being able to beat their peers.

Kolya - I was referring to Dennis' statement that the buttons were broken. I'm guessing he was being sarcastic because the buttons don't break. The judges do????? 8)

Or something. I'm beginning to understand why that Cuban Tae Kwon Do practitioner kicked his referee in the face.

Yes, and I can assure you, it's not going into my pocket any time that I box, it's going to support and fund the club hosting the show. Pay me and I'll care if someone is entertained. I box because I love it and want to do well at it, not because I care what anyone else thinks.

Ha, this is funny seeing as you fit the model of one of the jobsowrths that I mentioned. Ambox is your whole life, and you will defend it thru your bifocals even though it's clearly corrupt.

Its been a long while since Ive seen Friday Night Fights without one fighter getting screwed over or robbed in some type of way, wether it be by judges or referees. Pro boxing is just as corrupt!! And its virtually impossible to win in another fighters hometown as a pro, unless you KO your opponent. At least some of the Chinese boxers lost decisons. That being said I think the judging in amatuer boxing is defently flawed. But people will always complain, even if an absolutely flawless system comes about, people love to complain.
