on a similar topic, how come on the records of alot of 70s heavies, for instance ron lyle, you see points wins over FIVE rounds, as in W5. what was all that about?

Odd number rounds would rule out draws.......

What about the two minute rule?

Tony Licata v Gordon Lott (Florida Middleweight Title) also over 2 min round x 12.

This bout is NOT on database - date not known
RING Feb 1973.

Licata is 60-7-4 on boxrec so this one's been missed.

Australia also had 2-minute rounds -- Lionel Rose's pro debut, for example (and possibly other early fights) was an 8-rounder with 2-minute rounds.

I believe Michigan and Florida had 2-minute rounds.

I believe I recall that Ali's Miami Beach fights in 1961 were at 2 minutes.

I fought in florida in 1948 thru 1950 and the rounds at that time were of 2 min. Also at that period the size of gloves. changed. In 48 i fought with 4 oz gloves then in 49 went to 6 oz and then 8oz.

RICHBART. I think I remember you in Florida. The reason for your 2 minutes rounds was because that was as long as you lasted in the first round. The 8 oz. glove was only for you. Your mother insisted you wear them in case you hit anybody, you wouldn't hurt your hands. Just kidding. I don't have clue who you are. Pardon my poor attempt at a "slam".
