Hatton's opponent - a rumour

Post by bennie »

The guy is a chinny banger, ideal for Hatton. He's ranked in the very latest WBO light-welterweight rankings at number seven. He fought at welter in his last fight, which means they can bring him down and weaken him (a favourite Billy Graham tactic).

WBO Latino champ? They seem to be very keen on WBO ranked fighters since Corley lost the title and Zab doesn't look like hanging onto it.
I worry more and more that Hatton will go on to do a career long Calzaghe impression.

The reason I mentioned Henry Bruseles is because the rumour is that Hatton's opponent is to be a Puerto Rican (not Cotto of course). I checked out the world top 10 and this guy seemed to be an obvious candidate. There's also Hector Camacho Junior to consider.

unless rickys going for young striblings most wins record i cant see whats to be gained by fighting opponents of that ilk (no disrespect intended)
i cant see it being a total unknown ben.

Brace yourselves for a Tantric disappointment I said on an earlier thread. I can't see it being a big name on a show with no American-TV.

Junior Witter still fits the bill, US TV has been the reason why this fight hasn't taken place before - there is no US TV, so why not?

Very interesting to read through Henry Bruseles fight record, especially to follow through and look at the records of his opponents.
His record does look good, 20wins(13early) 2losses.
But as has been said before, records can be very, very misleading.
I would not call this a step forward, maybe two steps back….(will I get sued for writing this??)

Bruseles is an extremely fun fighter to watch, but he can't take a punch.

No, seriously Blue. The rumour is that it's a Puerto Rican.

i think it's best to assume that it will be Hector Camacho jr...it makes more sense.

Yeah, he's a name by proxy at least. And he's ballooned up to light-middle in his last couple of fights, so will be dead at 140.

hmm, interesting, you are right...he hasn't boxed at 140 for a couple of years. Well i haven't seen him in action, so dunno if he's grown out of the weight, or just not been training hard enough. This would be a big fight for him, he may be able to make 140.

Think he's just ballooned up and will get down to 140 again for a payday.

Looking at some of the rankings and Carlos Quintana is rated at Welter. Don't know whether he could make the weight or whether his KO record would rule him out. :-?

A little help from you nice Brits, please.
I'm in California, and a female friend of mine (transplanted from St. Helens) is marrying a guy from Manchester. The bloke isn't much of a boxing fan, though he's heard of Hatton. He asked me if I knew where Hatton was from. "Manchester", I said. "Yes, but what part?" he asked.
So I'm asking you guys who might be in the know. I do appreciate it.
By the way, I'm going to the wedding. My first trip to England! Say hi and be nice if you meet me in the pubs.

I'd actually fancy Hatton to beat that pimp John Ruiz.
