Jon Robinson, founder and President of the WBU, died last night.
This explains a lot of allegedly's recent actions. Are things starting to unravel for the Sports Network boss?

I think that FW doesnt have the iron grip he has enjoyed over British boxing for the past few years but he is still the promoter with the biggest fighters without a doubt...

Promoters like Hearn and Hennessey should concentrate on building up large stables of quality/exciting fighters so that within a couple of years they will be in a stronger position to challenge FW for the really big shows and the SKY network deals etc....

If he doesnt do something soon I see him being knocked off the top of the British promotional scene within 2 years....

surely though that wouldn't explain anything....I would have thought if that was a risk, then getting Hatton a shot at a legit title would be of the utmost urgency.

Wont make a difference anyway - IBO, IBC, WBF - these tin-pot titles are all the same. There will be no shortage of organisations lining up to grant Kevin Mitchell and co a shot at their "title" against some bum with a 0-20 record.

No, but if you look at all the recent events: Showtime no longer televising the June 5 show (will they televise another Ricky Hatton fight again?), Naseem's comeback with a rival promoter (Naseem is a licence to print money, after all), last night's development (Robinson suffered a stroke), the death of his long-time rock Ernie Fossey, the cynisicm now wide out in the open concerning his choice of opponents for his fighters...it's all starting to close in.

I was watching Benn vs Eubank II "You decide" recently, a great programme done by ITV a few days after the fight which had Barry McGuigan, Don King (well done ITV), FW and Michael Nunn discussing the fight in detail and the scoring (as well as showing the entire fight again).

I couldn't help but notice how complimentary FW was on Eubank's performance. Naturally, he sided with Nigel but it was a stark change to his often negative remarks on non- sport network fighters, in the News of the World column.

I was watching Benn vs Eubank II "You decide" recently, a great programme done by ITV a few days after the fight which had Barry McGuigan, Don King (well done ITV), FW and Michael Nunn discussing the fight in detail and the scoring (as well as showing the entire fight again).

I couldn't help but notice how complimentary FW was on Eubank's performance. Naturally, he sided with Nigel but it was a stark change to his often negative remarks on non- sport network fighters, in the News of the World column.

For once in his life he may of slipped out of promoter mode and into fan mode...now...if we could just find a way to keep him in fan mode.
