will audley get a better chance than now to rule
will he?its dawned on me all of a sudden how weak the division is,you would have to think audley could dominate,or maybe even tyson?tyson is shot but i think he could be the best out there at the moment.

The Heavyweight division is in a terrible state, at the moment why shouldn't Harrison dominate? There are some poor fighters at the top end of the scale who are not worthy to polish the belt let alone wear it..as for Tyson i think he is shot, don't forget he is like 36 or whatever so how long can he keep dragging himself through the training etc? I would prefer him to retire actually.
Realistically, how many years does Harrison have left? Not just age having an impact on this, but I just get the feeling that once he's built up a tidy stash the motivation might slip as well...
But age is perhaps the biggest worry, in that at the rate he's progressing he'll be starting to fight second-tier (even for the current crop) guys in a year or so, and that'll mean he's leaving himself only a smll window when he'll be physically in his prime and be in a position to make and win the fights.
I hope I'm proved wrong.

I hope Audley does well and don't jump on me as this post is supposed to be constructive but i can well see the start of his career setting a precedent for how it will carry on. Harrison seems to be happy to do the minimum required in every situation, he missed out the British scene and title for one reason or another and avoided matchups with Williams, Hide, Sprott etc He then moved on and won a fringe world title by beating a dire fighter with an inflated record for the WBF title...that has manouvered him onto the world scene and he will continue to pick off the shot, the weak and never were's on the world scene before establishing himself as number one. For example a fight with Holyfield would not be out of the question, a name on his record but in reality Holyfield is shot to pieces, alternatively a good scalp would be Joe Mesi, again on paper a good move but in reality he is overhyped and has poor stamina.
What i am saying is he knows how move and is a smart person, he looks at the weak and picks them off and that is how he will continue.

If Harrison was ready now which fighters would you match him with who you feel are legitimate, i.e, not just good paper match ups but also good real match ups?steve689 wrote:For example a fight with Holyfield would not be out of the question, a name on his record but in reality Holyfield is shot to pieces, alternatively a good scalp would be Joe Mesi, again on paper a good move but in reality he is overhyped and has poor stamina.

Daniel Herbert of Boxing News says look for an opponent with an excellent record which flatters to deceive. A bit like Richel Hersisia in other words. It will need to be a good opponent - on paper - for the BBC to sell. How about this guy?Matchfixer wrote:Cool! Any more news on an opponent?

Oops. Sosnowski is apparently fighting tomorrow night in Belfast. Can't be him then.bennie wrote:Daniel Herbert of Boxing News says look for an opponent with an excellent record which flatters to deceive. A bit like Richel Hersisia in other words. What about this Rene Monse, Dutch? How good - or bad - is he?Dutch Windmill wrote:Sosnowski is not that bad, Egobe has a glass chin, and Andreas Sidon is far too old. Don't think it will be any of them.
After seeing Nicolai Valuev's latest outing I think Harrison should have little trouble with him.

Someone on the current scene forum was at the Levin/Williams fight, and said that he overheard someone offering a guy a fight with Audley. He thought it might have been Tony Thompson. Thompson has a couple of decent 'gatekeeper' wins and at this stage would be a very good opponent for Audley.

He'd be interesting judging by his record as he is about the same height and weight and a southpaw. Having not fought in over a year is a little worrying though.Riddick Blowe wrote:Someone on the current scene forum was at the Levin/Williams fight, and said that he overheard someone offering a guy a fight with Audley. Well If Harrison took on Valuev it would come with a nice ranking in i believe the WBA Ratings maybe top five, it would be a very interesting match-up. Also is Valuev rated high in the European rankings? Maybe it could be former champ Michael Moorer.Dutch Windmill wrote:Sosnowski is not that bad, Egobe has a glass chin, and Andreas Sidon is far too old. Don't think it will be any of them.

Fighting Valuev would be a big mistake. Valuev is unlikely to ever get a title shot, who in their mind is going to fight an enormous bastard like that, he looks shockingly bad in action, but even if you're inept, being that size makes it risky, nobody is going to be able to outmuscle him in clinches, that's for bloody sure.
He didn't look very fit when I saw him fight though, quite flabby and very slow, his punching technique was pretty awful too, but the punches took their toll on his overmatched opponent.
Anyone losing to Valuev is going to have their reputation shattered, and what does a win prove.
If i was managing a fighter and I thought he had any real potential, Valuev is the last man I would put him in with.

Steve IMO that is not constructive, can you give instances of 'Audley being happy to do the minimum required in every situation'? and how did he avoid match-ups with Williams, Sprott and Hide? Audley declared that he wanted to win the British HW title in 2004 and Williams and Sprott went to Sports Network.steve689 wrote:I hope Audley does well and don't jump on me as this post is supposed to be constructive but i can well see the start of his career setting a precedent for how it will carry on. IMO Richel Hersisa is a fairly decent opponent for a prospects 15th fight look at Guinns, Mesis, Brocks, Klitschkos etc. 15th opponents. He is older than these fighters, but that doesn't mean he can take short cuts on his way to the top. I agree with your assessments of Evander and Mesi, but why does this specifically relate to Our Audleysteve689 wrote: He then moved on and won a fringe world title by beating a dire fighter with an inflated record for the WBF title...that has manouvered him onto the world scene and he will continue to pick off the shot, the weak and never were's on the world scene before establishing himself as number one.
