Father & Son champions

Post by T1798 »

Hello guys
1st post so apologies for jumping straight in with a question, and if this is an inappropriate forum to start digging, mods please feel free to delete/move if incorrectly posted.

Anyway, my question is this. What father/son world champions have there been.

Spinks (Leon+Cory), is there many more?

thanks in advance guys.

Thanks bennie, I'm thinking world tho' - not domestic.

Tracy Patterson, but he's just the adopted son of Floyd, & Frazier had 2 world title shots but was beaten the twice (Holmes/Tyson),

any help would be great.

The Mike Tyson-Marvis Frazier fight was not for any sort of alphabet world championship...
Tyson was the rising star and Marvis the stepping stone

It was a scheduled for 10 rounds (but ended 9 rounds, 2 min and 30 seconds ahead of schedule)..

i think the pattersons are the only world champions.
there have been a few father son combinations who have won domestic honours. bennie has already mentioned the londons but a few more are....
jim `spider` kelly and billy `spider` kelly - both british champs
wally swift (snr) and wally swift (jnr) - both british champs
jacob hyer and tom hyer - both bareknuckle champs of america.

i think there have been six sets of brothers who have both won world titles..........
orlando / gaby canizales
prudencio / ricardo cardona
donald / bruce curry
joe / vince dundee
kaosai / kaokor galaxy
leon / michael spinx (both have olympic golds as well!!)

Victor Galindez's son, Dario, challenged Lonnie Bradley for the WBO middleweight title a few years back and got blown out in a round.

What, no mention of Camacho Sr. and his son, Camabitcho Jr.? I mean, Junior won those impressive NABA and USBO titles...

If you count WBO as a world title then both Jimmi (WBO) and Johnny Bredahl (WBA & WBO) have been world champs.

How about father/daughter? Muhammad Ali & Laila Ali.

Also, some imaginative rumor-mongers have alleged that during George Foreman's wild younger days he fathered a bouncing baby boy - Mike Tyson! Foreman says he didn't work the East Coast.

Mike certainly has the punch to possibly be one of the several George Jrs., but I'd say he's way too short. Sonny Liston's illegitimate son - now *that* I could almost believe. ;)
