Darren Barkers next fight.

Post by DuranTheGreat »

After watching Barker win his first North American fight, I truly believe he is capable of bigger and better things.
He simply has not been given the recognition he deserves for being one of the biggest prospects in British boxing. I personally think he would beat Elcock on points, and has the ability to go for a EBU shot.

Your views on Barkers future, and who he should fight next.......

Interesting piece Danny, though I was surprised to see you make Cleverley vs Francis a 50/50 afffair. While I can't entirely rule out an upset, I think this has come too early for Cleverley. Dean's still got silky skills, great experience and tremendous mental fortitude. Still, either way it's a great match-up and one I'm really looking forward to.

I would like to see Barker vs. Elcock with the winner fighting McDermott.

I would like to see Barker going for the British title next with either a box-off with McDermott or a straight shot at Elcock. After that then maybe a European level operator like Francois Bastient or the likes, to boost his place in the EBU rankings. I think Barker is too strong for Lockett and would bust him up early if they met at this juncture.
