Mayorga gets Mitchell

Post by REAL_DEAL »

my german trader told me Mayora will fight Aaron Mitchell tonight

http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=005408

Sources close to the Jose Rivera camp have said that the fight between Rivera and Ricardo Mayorga has now officially been cancelled because Mayorga came in 6.5 pounds over the contracted weight and an agreement could not be reached between Team Rivera and promoter Don King.

Mayorga will now take on Aaron 'Homicide' Mitchell, 21-1-1 (16), in a ten round bout which will be added to the pay-per-view show at Madison Square Garden. Rivera, the current WBA welterweight titlist, has been removed from the show all together - eventhough he is one who made the weight for the bout.

Yes, Aaron is very good - top ten fighter, he was featured on the Hopkins vs Haakar show on Setanta. I would certainly put him in with Eastman and favour him, his brother Eric is also very good.

Mitchell might need to KO Mayorga to win, but I would definately stay up for it.

Anyway, MW how can you watch the fight - have you got Analogue, anybody know how to get it on Sky digital.

Is it me or does setanta only work sometimes?

I mean one day I turned it on and I was able to watch some cricket, but ever since then all it says on my tv, is programmes will start on a certain date. That date comes and goes, and then another future date comes up. Do you have to pay extra for it or something?

Rigoberto Garibaldi lets him come in overweight?

Then, They stick him in with a middleweight prospect who can punch? :o

Sounds like they are ready to dump Mayorga.

I dont think they want to dump mayorga,
I heard King went thru alot to keep him on the card even offering Rivera full pay meaning that if his purse is 300k that is what hell take home..

sounds like they really want him

Why did Garibaldi let him come in overweight?

It’s not like Ricardo’s hard to hit. 8)
Why stick him in with a bigger guy who can punch?

There’s no title on the line, nothing to gain.
Dumb move :-?

Safe enough fight as Mitchell was no puncher. Brave guy though, taking Mayorga on a few hours notice. Excellent chin too.

Mayorga was the same old deal - loading up on every shot. Mitchell was pretty cagey though, he'll be back.

i think Mayorga power is way overrated, he seems predicatable to, a good boxer who isnt scared off him should beat him
