KAYES LEAVES HATTON AS WELL?

Post by GlobalBox »

Couple of reports this morning that Kerry Kayes has called it a day with Team Hatton as well due to the Graham episode.

Not stirring, don't know if its true but reports gathering pace.

He seems a knowledgeable guy who takes pride in his role, seems to have some values as well if the above is true.

I knew he was close to Billy but not many people pass up the big bucks in this day and age, have to admire the stand, if indeed that is what it is.

I have always felt this was a tougher fight than most anyway and have backed Malignaggi at 11/4 but this has to be a very unsettling time for Ricky surely.

Will he be able to take the weight off in the same disicplined way as Kayes did or will he have some problems now?

If it's true then respect to Kayes for showing loyalty to Graham.

Hatton is simply slimming down his operation (pun intended) , he doesn't need to pay £1million for someone to wear a big michellin man bodybag while he whales away at it, and he doesn't need to pay someone 100k to tell him to eat chicken and veg 5 times a day and drink protein shakes. Fair play to him

I'm pretty sure Kayes has stated in the past that he never got paid to work with Ricky, that he chose to do it. This may sound a bit far-fetched, but Kayes is already a millionaire, so maybe its true?

If Kayes & Ricky have indeed ended their relationship, then I think that's a big loss for Ricky. No one can deny Kayes helped Ricky massively in getting the right diet, nutritional requirements, increasing his strength, etc.

If there's no Kayes, who will be supervising Hatton's diet during training? Sure, Ricky has probably learned a lot from working with Kerry, but Kayes has always done a superb job with Hatton.

Sorry, but that's really disrespectful to Kayes, PN. You should know it's more than that with your knowledge on the subject. The fact that when the WWE wrestlers were in the UK, one of the first things Cena and Batista did was go and see Mr Kayes shows the level of respect he gets worldwide for knowing his stuff about nutrition and exercise. I train with a few IFBB lads and they treat him like a God.

I also thought that Kerry was originally brought in because Ricky was having trouble making 140, but I'm not 100% sure on that fact and others more knowledgeable on it can clarify. If that's the case, will he still be able to?! That's not a dig at Ricky, I hope he can with ease, just a thought.

Ricky Hatton has used the same diet for 12weeks for the last few years. He uses the same supplements time and again. If Ricky's been paying any attention whatsoever he doesn't need help for anything to do with nutrition, because its simply not rocket science. Even late prep carb manipulation becomes old hat after you've done it several times. The only possible use for Kayes is if Kerry supplies him with some under the counter controlled substances or extra strong legal supplements not sold to the public. He certainly doesn't need him for the weight routines Kayes puts him, which aren't the most applicable ones to boxing as it is. Best believe Kerry Kayes isn't there for altruistic purposes, hes there because he either gets paid, or hes getting loads of free advertising. Now if Kayes did quit out of loyalty to GRaham then Kudos to him, but no one in any job is inexpendable and I wouldn't put any money on Malignaggi

got to agree

kayes doesnt have to mix the drinks himself for them to work, so i personally dont see this being a factor

im no longer a fan of hattons (since pre zoo), but i can see why he has sacked graham, he can teach him no more so why pay him a £1m - out of loyalty - dont be stupid, this is business

It's more about knowing what to take and when to take it, though. Maybe this can be learned, but if it is why don't we all become nutritionists?

Also, the fact that Hatton crashes weight (and I'd hazard a guess at atleast 30lbs or 40lbs) is going to affect his body. For example his immune system. A nutritionist is going to advise what's best at the time.

I'm not saying it's good, or bad, that he's left. I'm not saying Kayes is the best nutritionist in the world. But, as mentioned above, I respect his principles and I personally feel it will be a loss to Team Hatton.

Maybe they'll sign someone else.

When:

5-7 small meals a day in 3hourly intervals = optimising insulin levels and stopping your body shutting into starvation mode

What:

Meals consisting of: 30-50grams from low fat protein sources, 20-30g very low glycemic carbs (slow burning so insulin isn't spike), as much leafy green veg you can eat (take more calories to burn than they contain)

Supplements: Whey Isolate (between meals), ECA+Y Stack (after meals), Nitric Oxide (between meals), Fish oil (with), MultiVitamins+High Dose C/E/B, CEE (between meals), Glutamine/HMB/BCAA (between meals) + other cutting agents if you get deperate to shift the last few pounds

Extras: 5-6litres of water, No Sugar (possibly post workout), No Snacks

Its not rocket science

I disagree it's that formulaic. Every individual is different, and it's those slight idiosyncrasies that may require a nutritionist. What happens if you get a virus during training? What if you injure yourself?

Also that diet will gain weight, as it's the CNP lean mass builder diet that's on the wall of my gym. Or replace weight at best. Not drop 40lbs in 12 weeks whilst increasing strength.

If it was that easy, there would be no need for nutritionists. You could just read a book and it's all good.

Or perhaps it's a big scam and all the evil nutritionists of the world congregate to poison our minds with their propaganda?

Reply: Sounds good

What:

Reply: Can you be specific as to what foods you are referring to? 30-50grams of chicken, fish or turkey?? 20-30g very low glycemic carbs, meaning no rice-starch, but a baked potatoe perhaps, or just salads again?? What would you suggest as meals day by day?

Supplements: Whey Isolate (between meals), ECA+Y Stack (after meals), Nitric Oxide (between meals), Fish oil (with), MultiVitamins+High Dose C/E/B, CEE (between meals), Glutamine/HMB/BCAA (between meals) + other cutting agents if you get deperate to shift the last few pounds

Reply: Would not Omega Fish Oil, Esther C 500mg, E-with Gamma 400 international units, chelated zinc 30mg, B-50 complex, multivitamins with selenium, magnesium be enough. What is CEE? Would not the ECA+Y Stack be something detectable in his post fight urinalysis that is prohibited, and what does the whey isolate and nitric oxide do for him between meals, just curious.

Extras: 5-6litres of water, No Sugar (possibly post workout), No Snacks

No trail mix, no health food bars, nothing?

thanks,
Rory

A loss. Though I don't like the fascination with weights.

I'd like to see some higher quality sparring.

My brother works in the fitness game at a high level too. He once told me Kayes is at or near the top of his profession. That said Ricky will have picked up some knowledge of working with him. What he can't now replicate is the same sense of preperation without Graham and Kayes. These two have taken Ricky to where he is today and as the HBO series showed were very much a big part of Rickys preperations. Not just physically but mentally.

Ricky looked poor in his last fight I wouldn't be surprised if Malinaggi does a number on him. Also passing up the ODLH fight was a mistake.

I take it that loyalty to the man who wears the body bag means nothing then?

You are basically admitting that it is business over good old fashioned decency?

Jesus, Graham helped get him there. Are you telling me there was no way they could have worked something out to keep him on until the end at all?

Even if he was dead wood, which I don't believe he was, something could have been worked out. Hasn't the fakester earned enough?

This is a nasty game.

Not necessarily, yeah he'd have received the biggest purse of his career but he'd likely have been on the receiving end of a career-ending beatdown.

Hatton falling apart?

Post by Rocky Balboa »

WTF is going on with Ricky? I mean, his proper training camp commences September 1st, yet, if I'm not mistaken, there has still been no announcement in respect of who is going to train him!

If Kerry Kayes has indeed left Team Hatton, then that's more turmoil in the camp. This is far good preparation for Hatton. He better not take Malignaggi lightly because he will lose if he does.

If I were Paulie, the more I hear about what's happening with Team Hatton, the more confident I would become. Is Kayes departure solely because Kerry wants to remain loyal to Billy Graham?

Where is Ricky going to train & who do you think gets the call to train him?

Lee Beard is training him in Stalybridge. I thought I read somewhere that Joe G had taken over the Pheonix, but Terry would know best. I think I read it on a forum, so take it with a pinch of salt.

First and foremost, i would certainly say Kerry's involvement has been to Ricky's benefit.

The adjustments and advice given to Ricky by Kerry has been first class - but also likewise the association with Ricky Hatton has certainly been of great benefit to Kerry Kayes and his company CNP too i would imagine.

I doubt their is any grudge or bad blood there as i don't believe the pair of them (Kerry and Ricky) are separating on bad terms unless anyone reports otherwise ?

For whatever reason they aren't together from this point onwards, there partnership must have had equal benefits to them both.

It's getting like a soap story, with everyone filling in the blanks. Perhaps we need to hear the man / men speak for themselves.

Sometimes the comments you make are quite rediculous as I understand you have been a boxing fan for quite a reasonable while. As with most sports, a sportsman needs a team behind him/her to be successful. It would be ludicrous for a man with Hattons wealth to penney pinch and axe the people who have played a major part getting him to the top. I have no insider information at all but from what I have heard Hatton and Grahams relationship started to wain after the Mayweather fight and in particular when Lee Beard joined the team. Kayes it seems stood by Billy and being pretty well off himself he didnt need the money Hatton was paying him. Billy Graham didnt need the money either, both men worked for Hatton out of loyalty. Billy admitted quite a while ago he had more than enough money and worked for his love of the sport and to see Hatton through to his last bout. Both men are true professionals and I think its very unfair of you to dismiss them in such a way by saying Hatton can get by without them. We will see if he can, but I have my doubts. We know Malignaggi has been poor in his last two fights but what will Hatton be like when the two meet. I think Hatton is in decline and without Graham and Kayes it could be no more than a 50/50 fight. Before all this happened I would have said Hatton had a 70/30 advantage.
