PS you have to laugh at Frankies justification of the controversial introduction of PPV in 96 before Tyson v Bruno II:

"PPV is something we'll only use once a year, for events that are really special"

fast forward a few years -- and it was EVERYTHING.

Not that it surprised anyone im sure.

I still remember for years after Tyson/Bruno II, when the introduction of PPV was fresh in the memory, and soo many sports fans were still disgusted and said they had gone off boxing because of PPV.

Yeap - some of the big Naz shows in the 90s with other great fights on the card, they weren't PPV - have fighters purses gone up that much or have Sky and Fwankie got greedy?

That is such a funny line... anyone who writes or thinks Wazza in No.1 in Europe has never been to Germany for a big fight. In terms of TV figures, TV fees, champions, tickets - whatever - Universum and Sauderland murder the Wazza.

I think the crux of this is that Sports Network do not hold a Promotors licence.
Technically, the Setanta deal is with Sports Network.
If they can't find a Promotor to deal with ie use their licence, then they cannot promote a show - end of.
Now, Wazza does hold a Promotor's licence hence on every show to date it reads "Wazza in conjunction with ...."
So, Wazza refuses to Promote SN shows on Setanta ....... but agrees to Promote SN shows on Sky.
No issues with the fighters, whether contracted to SN or Wazza.
If this is anywhere right - and I may be a million miles off the mark - then that's an astute business move by Wazza.
This all started when Wazza realised that his "exclusivity" deal with Setanta was not as he believed.
If Setanta had not done a deal with another Promotor(s) then I've no doubt at all that Khan would be on Setanta right now.

So essentially fwank threw his toys out of his pram yet again?

Nice one Ant, they have been doing it a while though. I was watching the undercard of Tyson-Mathis the other day and there were ads, thew Sky Live logo was in the corner. The ads were infrequent but they have been doing it for ages. Now the ads are coming thick and fast and they show fewer fights.

Tyson-Mathis wasn't PPV, though.

The only real advantage for HD is the slightly better picture quality and larger storage on the HD box.

However, my box decides whether it wants to record what I ask it to. It doesn't like UFC 74 as it told me to fck off twice.
