This is a British title eliminator and it's a great 50/50 fight which shows what Haye's promotional group intentions are from the off here matching two of their new(and best) signings against each other. The great thing is the winner will then have a 50/50 fight against Paul Appleby.

Matthews is better experienced however I think Lindsay is the better talent overall and will edge this on points.

and then for the winner of that to fight the winner of Appleby/Lindsay/Matthews.
With the winner facing John Simpson.

Oh in an ideal World, of course boxing has no place in an ideal World, because nothing ever works out as it should.
Knowing how boxing goes, Lindsay v Matthews will end in a draw, Appleby will lose an easy defence on a cut and Truscott will have to vacate his title through injury. Meanwhile Simpson decides to retire.

This is a great fight. Really, really hard to call. Mathews has had more pro experience, whereas Lindsay was the better amateur and might be the more versatile. From what I've seen of Lindsay, he looks like the best featherweight in Britain. Can do a little bit of everything and is very, very clever and fit. Mathews is tall, tough and a can dig a bit. He can also do 12 rounds standing on his head. Gonna be very interesting. I'll take Lindsay by late stoppage.

Merely stating that I hope this doesn't spell the end of the loser in championship fights. I feel both are better than Truscott. It wasn't too long ago that Matthews was well fancied to beat Arthur.

Oh I happen to agree with you, it's just you know the way boxing works. That's a match up that should happen but because of the sport we're in it probably won't.

Look at the British Light-Middleweight situation several years ago, plenty of talent but no one fought anyone else.

Alot of folk on here gave him a good chance (maybe well fancied is OTT) after Arthur looked dead at the weight against Foster.

Why did Mathews leave SN?

He was well looked after, getting decent coin for the old WBU stuff.

I know Choi frigged Mathews up badly but I like his chances against Lindsay. I will go against the grain and say Mathews MD.
