Setanta Online

Post by steve689 »

I've heard and read snippets about this service but does anybody actually use it? How much does it cost and how does it work? Just purely out of interest, but a letter in the BN recently was stating that it ran after 3am and i was wondering how it worked in general. Cheers :TU:

I'm currently using it. It's reliable. All of the fights are archived so you can watch them back at a later date, which is a nice feature to have. It's £7.99 monthly or £79.99 annually.

This is what it's like (using the best quality setting available):

Main page:

Full screen (1440x900 resolution, so if you use 1024x768 it will probably look better):

Thanks Asterix. Is it reliable enough? I mean does it start buffering and freezing every five seconds or not?! I have a decent speed and spec laptop but things like RTE are a nightmare on it.

Finally, do the channels just run like on the TV, i.e. you watch boxing the same time it's scheduled on the box or is it automatically archived after the event? Sorry many questions, lol. :TU: :box:

It's very reliable for me, but I think RTE is also fine for me. I don't think I've ever had a buffering issue with Setanta, and the stream loads up very quickly.

There doesn't seem to be a delay. When people do their "round by round" reports on here they seem to be watching at exactly the same time as me. The fight is manually archived a day or two after the event.

Thanks for the info mate. I'll probably sign up for the year as and when I get a few pennies together!
