Haye "Heavyweights scared of me"

Post by Chambers2 »

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7594186.stm
Londoner David Haye believes his first-round demolition of Polish heavyweight Tomasz Bonin has made it more difficult for him to get matched.

Haye, 27, knocked out Bonin on his heavyweight debut in April 2007 but is still searching for an opponent for his next bout on 15 November.

"They won't want to get knocked out, they realise how much power I have," he told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"I'm a natural heavyweight, so that won't help my chances."

Since beating Bonin, Haye has become the recognised undisputed cruiserweight world champion with wins over Jean-Marc Mormeck and Enzo Maccarinelli.

And Haye added: "I think I'm ready for [IBF and WBO heavyweight champion] Wladimir Klitschko now.

"But in terms of rankings and raising my profile in the States I think I'll need a couple of fights.

"On the promotional side of it I think that'll be a good idea as well so I'm not just coming in as cruiserweight champion but as a heavyweight contender."

Haye is confident a deal to fight the Ukrainian can be reached.
He said: "I've got good rankings already, the heavyweight organisations see me as the main man in the division.

"It's just a matter of getting in there, knocking these big heavyweights out and getting in line for Klitschko."

Since starting Hayemaker Promotions, the Bermondsey man has signed three fighters from Merseyside - featherweight Derry Mathews, lightweight John Watson and super-middleweight Tony Dodson.

Haye is a long-time friend of Dodson and he believes the former British champion could surprise a few people.

"If he gets the regular fights he can produce the goods, people won't be expecting much out of him but he's definitely our ace in the pack," said Haye.
These HW's are in a whole World of shit and it looks as like they know it!!

The Klitschko purse bid situation is getting interesting too. We may not have a clear HW champion by the end of the year.

Well its a catch22 for Haye, to get a good opponent he's going to have to pay alot, because he's been yelling his head off saying he can KO anyone, so his opponent wants paying.

But if he doesn't yell his head off saying how good he is, then he'll struggle to get a title shot.

I definately prefer the 'yelling his head off' approach

Yeah, but is he willing to pay for the big names to come over and fight him?

Apparently they're wanting £750k to £1m to fight him.

That is insane money.

They want that because he got about 750k for fighting Enzo. What price will tickets be for this fight to be able to pay for opponent?

I wonder if that was Rahman.

Regarding tickets prices, from memory, they were £300 inner ringside, £125 for outer, £85 for lower tier and £50 for upper tier for the Enzo fight.

Hopefully 26 can tell us tickets prices and when they're available once all is finalised.

Yes the current heavyweight are bad BUT, Haye is chinny and we all know that's a fact.

Against a 'real' ambitous heavyweight he could get ko'd by a stiff jab.
Although we want him to do it we really should not get too carried away.

When Haye goes down so will his TV deal, I'll bet all of the shows are dependent on him winning. No Haye.... no smaller type shows.

Haye won't do it!

Yeah wonder who it was that dropped out as an opponent...be interesting to see who they finally manage to tempt over here - expensive business getting decent "opponents" at HW

Plus we don't even know if DH is going to carry that big advantage up to HW - his punch. Could be he'll have a shock when he sees his sunday punch just bouncing harmlessly off his opponent.

I can't think of any fighter moving up to HW who carried with him his big punch. DH is looking to be the first it seems - he's very optomistic, give him that.

I think Haye has a good idea how effective his punch is due to sparring many Heavyweights.

Mr U,
I'm telling you it's a fact that Haye's progress has no bearing on Hayemaker's promoting of bills not involving Haye.
The terms of the contract with Setanta in terms of dates, number of shows etc, have been made public and are there for all to see.

You wouldn't happen to be 'up Warren's arse' by any chance would you?

I've just read you knocking Setanta, and now you're knocking Haye. Nothing wrong with critiscism, and my apologies if it's just good old-fashioned brit doom-mongering.

Beating someone who was stopped By Audley would hardly make them scared.

Taking months to bulk up when he only needed to not dehydrate too Is strange. He needs to concentrate on his career rather than promoting too.

26 I'm confident that the wording setanta use will be like 'right to show another ? shows'. THEY HAVE THE RIGHT to or not to.

Sorry!

CharlieB, I can assure you that I'm not up anybodys bottom and most definately not SN's!

I was not knocking SETANTA in any way in my other post. Just that for me I like the domestic stuff to run alongside top class international shows.

It's just me, I'm not saying it's what everyone wants.

I just think that SETANTA can't really be called 'the home' when they only have Haye shows (5 or 6 POTENTIALLY) and the TOP RANK stuff every few weeks.
It's not a complaint as I think SETANTA made SKY decide wether or not to move forward with boxing, I just worry that they may be left short of content.

£12 a month is a lot for perhaps just one show!

Charlie B,
I dont think you're wide of the mark regarding Mr U.
Let's look at the facts.
Only been around a week.
In his 20 posts to date he's slagged off the following :
Hatton
Hayemaker
Haye
Derry Matthews
Rendell Munroe
In the same period he's licked the fanny of :
Sky Sports
Wazza
Khan
He's also said very pointedly PPV / Wazza isn't here to stay.
Nice work Charlie B aka Clousseau !

26,

Where please tell have I slagged Munroe?? I just said I think he'd stay at the level he's at. Just MY OPINION.

I have not slagged SETANTA, I'm a subscriber who loves boxing. It's just MY OPINION that without domestic coverage it can't really be called the home.

I've not slagged off Haye/Hayemaker. Just given MY OPINION that Haye CANNOT take the flush heavyweight shots and that if he gets beaten then there will be no other shows.

I've not slagged off Derry Mathews, Just said that in MY OPINION SN have looked after him very well. In MY OPINION there are other boxers who have'nt been looked after that well by SN. Only MY OPINION.

Yes I've critised team Hatton. So what? Am I the only one? I find it hard to stomach the BS. Sorry for expressing MY OPINION.

I don't support SKY. I think they have damaged British boxing over the last few years. I hope it changes for the better. MY OPINION.

So... what is the commen thread here? I've expressed MY OPINIONS some of which don't meet yours. I've only become aware of this forum a few days ago. So therefore I am an infiltrator from MARS here to destroy the universe. GREAT DEDUCTION SHERLOCK!

So I'm either 'slagging off' or 'licking the fanny of' (NICE AGAIN CHARMER) people when all I'm really doing is expressing MY OPINION.

SORRY
