What fights would you recommend to get on tape?
yes, a recent example is Dorin-Balbi 1...haven't seen it but it was supposed to be very special.bennie wrote:Yeah, I like the underappreciated classics. One that tends to get overlooked is Alexis Arguello-Bazooka Limon in the 70's. One of the rounds was voted Round of the Year by the Ring.adamiw wrote:a good fight to get that most wouldn't of seen is Simon Brown vs Tyrone Trice 1...brilliant.

I'd love to know how Bruce is getting on nowadays.
Bruce Curry vs Monroe Brooks is one of my favourite fights, an almost unbelievable toe to toe slugfest.... I think there was bad blood between the two... they had been freinds but had fallen out over a woman.... Curry was a brilliant box-fighter at this point though you need to watch him against Benitez to appreciate his skills as he just slugged it out against Monroe.... Bruce was easily as talented as Donald but was mismanaged... (put in against Benitez in 15th fight) and the Brooks fight took a lot out of him for sure... he also went toe to toe with Hearns and shook him and badly cut him before being koed in the 3rd.
Brooks had a good fight with Duran.
Here are a few more underrated classics imo....
Robinson vs Fulmer 1, 2, 3 and 4...
Napoles vs Muniz 1
Palomino vs Muniz 1
Palomino vs Green
Stracey vs Napoles
Monzon vs Briscoe 2
Shavers vs Tiger Williams

Sanchez vs Cowdell
Tom Collins vs John Moody
Gomez vs Lockridge
Gomez vs Layne
Ali vs Chuvalo 2
Ali vs Lewis
Ali vs Shavers
Shavers vs Mercadoe
Spinks vs Burnett
Spinks vs Mercado

Or Clinton against anyone. Like Bobby Chacon and Danny Lopez, the Croydon warrior was never in a bad fight. He actually fought the above-mentioned Bruce Curry in Las Vegas in 1979, and took him 10 hard rounds. I seem to remember he fought Curry about 10 days after he had been involved in a frightening 15-round war with Colin Power.knockout artist wrote:British wise, one of the best ive seen is Clinton McKenzie TKO14 Des Morrison.
No, it was a gruelling struggle and worth picking up. The fight took a lot out of Dokes (along with Charlie) and within six months, Gerrie Coetzee had flattened him for the title.KOJOE90 wrote:I'm sure I read once this was a dull fight with two lazy fighters, did I read wrong then? Cheers, I'm positive I read is was a dull fight, that's why I've never bothered to get it, but If you and Silkov say it's a good one then that's good enough for me.bennie wrote:No, it was a gruelling struggle and worth picking up. I shall put on my 'to get list'.
That fight was on one of the greatest boxing shows of all time in my humble opinion: Holmes-Witherspoon, Dokes-Weaver II, Greg Page giving arguably his finest performance in outclassing Renaldo Snipes, Bruce Curry outgaming Leroy Haley for the WBC light-welter title, and more.KOJOE90 wrote:Cheers, I'm positive I read is was a dull fight, that's why I've never bothered to get it, but If you and Silkov say it's a good one then that's good enough for me.bennie wrote:No, it was a gruelling struggle and worth picking up. I have a copy of Holmes-Withersponn, good fight, some realiy nice skills shown by a green Timmy, The way he used a wide stance to help him out-jab Holmes at times was great to watch.
Still think there is a good argument to say Witherspoon won that one, or even a draw. Tim should have gotten a rematch at least.

Incredible, isnt it? Somebody should sent Hatton and Witter a copy of Clintons record. It might get them to remember that they are meant to be fighters, and fighters are supposed to fight.bennie wrote:Or Clinton against anyone.
