Sprott v Skelton.
What happens here guys?
Im backing Sprotty, although Skelton is more than capable of putting Sprott down, I expect Sprott to take this seriously and have a resolute defence and try to wear Skelton down with body shots.
After that surely everyone must agree that Audley Harrison should be made the mandatory challenger, Keith Long is tied with his fight for the SA title, Hide lost his last fight and Williams will soon get a WBU title shot, what are they gonna do now give it to John McDermott.

That's very much how I see it. The current crop of Sky heavies is thoroughly uninspiring. None of them look even in shape, they're all carrying too much weight and make up for lack of talent and fitness with a low work rate and a spot of posturing. I'll read the result of this one in the paper, I think. Assuming any of the papers can be bothered to print the result this week.

As allegedly has said the Winner will get a shot at the EBU title, I think Warren is basically trying to get in Audley's way again.
Krasniqi's not going to fight outside Germany. He's a decent boxer, even if he's got stuff all power. I know it's not about arm strength or anything, but he's got to have the smallest arm width of any heavyweight in the top 50. A motivated Williams could beat him, I think, even given the Sam show.
Warren's got a handful of cards that he can play any time he wants and Audley's only got himself. But fair play to Harrison, he's got himself into a better position globally than any of Frank's fighters in a very small amount of time.

Speed is the key in this fight, and I think Sprot has enough of that to take care of Skelton.
What I mean by that is, Skelton hasn't fought anyone with decent hand speed, and for me I think he is an easy target for someone who has reasonably fast hands: ala Sprot.
Sprot on a comfortable points win, might even stop him.
Looking forward to this fight, even if both fighters are a bit limited.

Could it be are overrating Sprott a touch? Don't forget that this little "run" he went on, as commendable as it was consisted of him beating mostly substandard opposition. Before that he was a nearly man who got stopped by Williams in seven and held a win and a loss over Hoffmann, what i am getting at is that he is not as great as we might think...after all i had him losing against Williams in the rematch after a timid performance given to him by Williams ridiculous insistence on showboating. Skelton is raw and strong and limited but i see him having too much power and aggression for Sprott, i see him stopping him inside 10 rounds. Oh and i also see every comment i just made biting me in the behind too
I am nothing if not honest

Yeah I did think that at the time steve. He was down to fight Julius Francis a fight I was really looking forward to only to watch the bill all the way through and find Francis had pulled out and Sprott was fighting some East European who he KOd in 1. He then beat Colin Kenna with another very early KO and people were talking about a rematch with Williams all of a sudden.

Well, i've gone for Skelton. I just feel that Sprott is a little too passive and willing to let his opponent set the pace of the fight. This, IMO, will play straight into Skeltons hands. For me Skelton will be far more aggressive and i see him being able to impose his type of fight on Sprott and win this one fairly comfortably, either by a decent margin on the scorecards or by a stoppage in the later rounds.

Yes, those 10 rounds Skelton went with Francis have given him a much better chance in this fight. I've tipped Sprott to win, but he's fought Danny Williams in his last two fights and Danny Williams is hardly what you call a 'busy' fighter. His low workrate enabled Sprott to get into a rhythm and ultimately pick up the belts. Now, Skelton IS a busy fighter. He throws lots of punches and proved he can keep it up for 10 rounds against Francis.TheGoods wrote:I'm with the Dazzling Simian on this one. Skelton showed he can work at a decent pace for the duration and should be all the better for going the distnace with Francis. No bookies eager to price up at this stage, would love a bit of 8/11 on the 'old man'.
Yes Glitter Monkey is indeed correct, Sprott likes to take it easy and build up rounds, can anyone see the timid Sprott that conceded defeat in the last two rounds last time against Williams keeping up with Skelton's high punch output? I can't. Even if he is not physically hurt i doubt he will score enough to win on points either.
I for one can't.steve689 wrote:can anyone see the timid Sprott that conceded defeat in the last two rounds last time against Williams keeping up with Skelton's high punch output?
But I don't see Skelton stopping Sprott either (I'm not convinced about the 'Raw Power').
I've gone for Skelton on points. (Skelton outworks a mystified and static Sprott).
