Nathan Cleverly Leaves Enzo Stable
Re: Nathan Cleverly Leaves Enzo Stable
That's very strange, Warrens saying "I have no problem with Enzo Calzaghe and have a great working relationship with him" and Cleverly is saying the reason he's left Enzo is because "I don't want boxing politics to detrimentally affect my boxing career"Asterix wrote:http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7598818.stm

Re: Nathan Cleverly Leaves Enzo Stable
is this going to be the same as the billy graham situation when hatton left fwanky
Re: Nathan Cleverly Leaves Enzo Stable
Apparently Enzo actually disagrees with Joe leaving Warren so hence the above remark by Warren. Ultimately though I suppose blood is thicker than water but sounds to me like Cleverly is using this as an excuse to leave Enzo when something else might be the issue.Chambers2 wrote:That's very strange, Warrens saying "I have no problem with Enzo Calzaghe and have a great working relationship with him" and Cleverly is saying the reason he's left frank is because "I don't want boxing politics to detrimentally affect my boxing career"Asterix wrote:http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7598818.stm

I dont agree.
Wazza will freeze Enzo's camp out of it, to spite Joe and his dad.
Childish, churlish but that's Wazza.

Maybe, Enzo Mac could join Haymaker promotions? Stranger things have happened.Would be a good signing for both of them. Am suprised Nathan Cleverly has left the Calzaghe camp -am not sure that is a good move? Enzo is a very good trainer!!

I am not sure about Enzo as a trainer. 'Bishada Bashida Boshida'
That appears to be his advice to JC against B-Hop!

Maybe i'm missing the point with Cleverly but i don't see anhything in his style that makes me want to see more. He is tall and punches in volumes but doesn't appear like he will surpass domestic level.
Will he even beat Francis? No, i don't expect so.

Looks like a lamb to the slaughter to me. On what I've seen of Cleveley he is nowhere near ready for Francis.

Re: Nathan Cleverly Leaves Enzo Stable
Look at the greater picture.
I really feel for the lads at Enzo's who are contracted to Wazza.
He is such a bitter and twisted person when he doesn't TOTALLY get his own way.
Whilst the situation with Joe is a one on one dispute, everyone on the fringes will feel the effect.
I'm sad to say I've seen it all before.
Wazza dropped Wincobank, and look what happened to the guys still contracted to him.
Johnny had to fight tooth and nail to get the fights he deserved but in spite Wazza made him hold on and hold on - desperately hoping to hang him out to dry with Maccaroni.
Johnny had one fight left on his contract and Wazza never bid for his mandatories.
Johnny had no alternative but to accept the opponent's Promotor's terms and fight as the away fighter.
Now come up to the present day.
Coldwell does his deal with Hayemaker, and Brook, having come on leaps and bounds becoming British Champion with him, has to move gyms on Wazza's insistance because he's thrown his toys out of the pram.
Regardless of Cleverly's abilities etc, I can see where he's coming from.
What would you do if you were say Pryce ?
What if Wazza says you're my fighter and you ain't working with the Calzaghe crew anymore.
If you stay, you're contracted to me and I'll freeze you out.
What does he do ? The gym that's made him what he is, the place he loves, but his earnings potential put at risk.
Let me make it clear this is nothing more than me playing devil's advocate.
It's not based on anything factual, just my slant on things.

Warren also made Paul Smith leave Billy Graham when they fell out. At least that was the way I heard it.

Correct, TT.
I'm sure there are other examples that have been swept under the carpet as well.

I think most fighters and gyms should be looking to sign with haymaker promotions.Things will get done properly. I'm always surprised by the level of FW's sourness. For someone that must be tough -to survive at the level he has for so long, one must be tough as old boots, but yet he seems remarkably thin skinned, and just plain sour, really.

I could say more, and I'm sure so could you Lennox.
Gym talk is often just that ..... but sometimes you see the real picture.

Didn't that happen for all of Graham's fighters?TerribleTerry wrote:Warren also made Paul Smith leave Billy Graham when they fell out. At least that was the way I heard it.

Bit premature for decent fighters to sign with them, they haven't even done a successful show yet and there already starting big.big lennox wrote:I think most fighters and gyms should be looking to sign with haymaker promotions.Things will get done properly.
