I know the chaps on here will give me sound advice, I'm training in a pro gym here in Seoul (Kwang Sun Kims in Sunae)
and the trainer (not Kwang Sun Kim himself) is making me jump into throwing a jab - so I jump forward with both feet and throw a jab and then he wants me to jump back - I make a fornicating pigs ear of it every time but I have never ever seen this training tactic before in a British gym - can anyone tell me if my trainer has lost the plot because I don't see the point in it! :(

Re: Boxing training advice
Jump in with both feet or step in with the left while throwing them back out again ?
Jumping with both feet seems odd, in fact I tried it a few times and cant get it myself. With some of the Ama fighters I work with you would see them step in with the left foot as the throw the left hand and then as the hand comes back the foot comes back too.
Maybe this is the start of a combo that he wants you to master in little steps, jujmping in and throwing 3/4 shots then jumping out would make more sense to me but just a jab seems odd.

PS/ hope you master whatever it is soon lol.

I'm sure it'll work out fine!
Unless your opponent throws a right hand as you jump in.
Then.......... GO TO SLEEP MY BABY, CLOSE YOUR TIRED EYES!

Hello Gareth, basically jump in with both feet and then jump back out with both feet! He does have me throwing a double jab and a right, jump back out again and jump in with another double jab right hand combo. I just hope he doesn't want me to do this when I spar/box!Gareth wrote:Jump in with both feet or step in with the left while throwing them back out again ?
