Just a thought.

You are.

Post a thread.

DG Threads attract a lot of interest - no matter what kind of interest - MatthewS has no threads to speak of and no one has any interest in you at all!

Wow, its the British version of Pringle. Complete with ability to dish it out but not take it.

You have fun sunshine, I'd rather be obscure than widely regarded as an idiot.

Khan and Sky bullsh*t

Post by WildWaylon »

"This is a big step up for me" says Khan. What total bullshit, how can it be. Once you have peeled off the top layer of this guys record you can see he has just knocked out bums. If he was really any good he would be in the top 20. Sky say "19 fights 19 wins 17 KOs, both men unbeaten, who will lose their unbeaton record". Khan replies "and it wont be me". Utter shite to sell the fight to the public who know even less than we do about two jabs Prescott. Even the Sky team big the fight up to make it look like its a tough one for Khan. This is a step backwards and should be an easy win for Khan. If it isnt then Khan is going nowhere in boxing. The only test is fighting someone taller than him for a change. When Khan wins easily the average fan will think Khan is fantastic beating a previously undefeated fighter with a huge KO record. The whole thing is a joke!!!

I've just been down the pub with a few mates and a couple said they were buying this on PPV.

They know little about boxing, but like Khan and enjoy watching his fights.

It really hit home to me that sky will get plenty of buys for this, from people like my mates who don't know enough about boxing to consider this a mismatch because of the Amir Khan name / brand and the way that Sky market the fight.

It's daylight robbery really, but for every boxing anorak who comes on here and won't buy it, theres probably 100 passive boxing fans who might.

Yeah it's a laughable build up really, Watt and Darke have to stand there, fingers crossed behind their backs, and hype this as something close to Ray Leonard/TommyHearns.

I agree Darke, Smith et al should be ashamed of themselves!

How pray tell can they build this up into some kind of Ward v Gatti?

We should demand they return their journo credentials back in!

Try and get a free stream here http://myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=18001&part=sports

I may not even bother doing that. No wobbles from me.

Wobbles are for a fight I really want to see but disagreed with the PPV. I don't really want to see this - even if it had been on normal (was going to say free but my £45 a month Sky bill isn't free) Sky I would probably have just Sky+'d it and watched tomorrow.

The Sky marketing machine is sickening me like never before.

They are running an ad on the radio where they reel off highlights from Darke and Lennon Jnr saying names like "Iron Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Naseem Hamed" then "Amir Khan" :-?

Sound ludicrous to me but as you say to the very casual boxing fan they have elavated Khan to that level by association - they now think they are watching a fight of real significance up there with some real glory glory nights.

It's shameless.

When you think what trade descriptions come down on companies for - Sky are getting away with murder here.

I've always respected Darke and Watt for their integrity and telling it like it is. Not any more.

I'm a sucker for hype! Dead against it up until yesterday. Relented when my friend said he'd go halves. £2.50 each for each of the 3 fights plus whatever undercard action gets squeezed in. Thats how I justified it to myself. Watched a stream for the Hopkins fight and will not bedoing it again.

I know that this prescott dude has only beaten colombia's finest.............roadsweepers. That being said, he does seem to be able to punch straight and you have to fancy him to find Amir's chin. Not saying he knocks him out but he might make it big....

The sky hype just eat e into submissiion. Lst Sunday on Goals on Sunday they really played up Prescott record. 19 wins, 17 knockouts, 13 in the first 3 rounds. Made him sound like a killer! I laughed it off but then I kept thinking if something does happen an I've missed it I am going to be pissed

Allegedly's played a blinder, and that's the reason why. No-one wants to miss fireworks, so all you need is that little bit of doubt to tempt people with. Khan's a perfect fit for fighting 'maybes' on PPV.
