What should happen... He takes a few months off, tightens up his game for real (Not just media boasts about defence). He changes his style to a guy who boxes at range and he keeps himself quiet. Get him in with Mayweather Sr or someone of a similar ilk.

Then, when he is ready, bring him back with a durable test and move him towards the EBU title rather than the World. If he proves himself there, then he can look to the future.

What will happen... He'll be back in December or early January. The trainer will take all the blame and be canned. The trainer he replaces him with won't be that much better and cheap. They will still hype Amir as the next great British champion. For good measure, they will blame numerous other things like the weight and possibly shift Khan up to Light Welter, away from all the heavy hitters dominating the Lightweight division.

Sky will advertise it as the "Big Comeback" and throw in some Lennox Lewis/Rahman comparisons. They will then hand pick a feather fisted opponent with a padded record. He will do nothing more than plod in front of Khan and after a flurry, there will be a questionable stoppage.

They will all orgasm about how "Khan is back with a bang!" and act like the Prescott fight never happened. No one will dare talk of rematch. In the post fight interview he will state his intent to be a champ by the end of 2009 (Audley anyone?)

They move him along steadily and grab hold of a WBO title by maneuvering things to be stacked in Khan's favour. Khan will then go down the Calzaghe route and only face another genuine live body if he splits with Sports Network.

Not sure if Khan could really take the risk. If Peter manages to land cleanly, then it's lights out for Amir.

First of all, somethings not right. Just saw a picture of this Columbian called Presscot (?) and he looks massive in that picture compared to the weigh in pics on tv. Has the press increased his size by doctoring the pic? Its in the observer for those of you who wanna check it out.

That Prescot's right bicep looked like the size of Roy Jones's at light heavy in his prime and if he really is that big no wonder he knocked Amir out, but I suspect that the pic has been doctored one way or the other.

Can't beleive Amir chose this trainer. Get the feeling he may have double crossed Amir. This trainer used to train Prescot they wherer saying on the radio and he okay'd the fight?

I knew it was bad news the minute I heard that Amirs first shot was a left hook! You don't throw that as your first shot! Leave yourself wide open to which he did!

This hopefully will teach all prospectsin future to not rush and try and do a Prince Naseem Hamed in the way he got to his first title fight. I always knew Amir was far too keen for his own good and that it would lead to a rude awakening if he wasn't careful and here is the sad proof.

Amir can and on the whole should come back from this but he's gonna have to adapt his stlye where he defends his weak chin but attacks too. Like I said, he should have gone for the Lennow Lewis STYLE of figthing, perfect I thought, always starting off with the jab, goes forward, hooks at the right time, goes back to get the rigth measure again and then forward again with all of the above and at some point the uppercut etc etc.

Oliver Harrisons did teach him to fight safe, but he did need extra skills tought on top of that and it didn't seem to be coming from Harrisons teachings.

The very worst thing for Amir to do is go into denial about this defeat and do what Naseem Hamed and Lewis did and sack their promoter and self promote, that will definetly end his career prospects for good fast. Audley Harrison also self promoted and look where it got him!

allegedly weas always telling Amir to slow down in his eagerness for a world title but it was obvious their was a limit to how much Amir was prepared to listen and hear to that as his family where telling him the opposite! having said that, I think Amir has been fighting a touch too frequently for my liking. maybe once every 3 months and then on the whole extend it to every 4 months but unless your a mega sensation like a young Tyson or Lewis, then every 2 months or so was always going to risk what happenned last night.

Good luck to Amir though on his comeback.

Could well be rematch with Two Jabs though. I'm guessing that Khan's new wage demands dictate that he's going to be on PPV for the forseeable? In which case digging own graves come to mind.

1. Look at the video and realise 'don't hook with a hooker' when you have no chin, mistakes like this can be made against feathers not huge punching LWs
2. Don't fight big punching unknowns
3. Consider a move to 140 if the weight making takes too much from him
4. Work on feinting, picking punches and don't try to fight like Hatton leading with the face
5. Spar more, I dont think he can spar enough
6. Fight a durable well schooled comeback opponent, maybe Rios
7. Fight a top overrated up and comer without much of a punch like John Murray
8 Fight an ex-champ like Chavez or Alex Arthur
9. Get a title shot against a weaker champ like Juan Diaz (if he gets a belt), Campbell (if hes around he'll be ancient), Kotelnik, Romanov (puncher but limited), Malignaggi
