A fighter cannot move up following a loss.

British top 30 surely all British Champions should be in the list , no murray? not convinced ? he beat Lee meager in 5 rds something which Jon Thaxton did not do but won on pts , he also stopped Dean Hickman in 4 rds for English Title .
25 fights 25 wins Horse and stu jones must be the same both give little or no credit to John Murray. but end up being cheerleaders for hype jobs.

If you think that all British champions should be on the list, then what about Commonwealth champions as well?

Hickman got knocked out by Gary Reid in his previous fight, so it is nothing special to knock him out. The win over Meager was impressive, but I remain unconvinced that he could do likewise to other top British fighters. His struggle with Hamidi was worrying.

When did I say he shouldn't be in the UK top 30 P4P ranking.

Personally I wouldn't have Skelton or Williams there.

You wouldn't have Skelton in there? He is Britain's number one heavyweight (not counting Haye yet), and will quite possibly be the European champion by the end of the year.

But he isn't the EBU champion, the shot isn't looking on.

He is very inactive whats is it - 1 fight a year now for the last 3 years?

Plus all of the Heavyweights are crap.... miles away from European class even, getting a shot doesn't mean European class.

Just because he is Britain's number 1 at a devision doesn't mean he should be there... should Andy Bell on Don Broadhurst be there?

He is still the mandatory challenger isn't he?

How are they miles away from European class? I think Skelton or Williams could beat any non-World class European fighter.

I count bantamweight, super flyweight and flyweight as one division, so no.

Williams hardly beat McDermmott... and has loses to Harrison and Sprott (more recent than his wins over them!).

Well what can you do when the author quotes Rhodes as being unproven as a British Champion ?
A Champion that happens to be unbeaten at the weight and has a Lonsdale belt on his mantle piece won in record time (90 days) and has 43 fights behind him with 4 defeats.
Come on Mr Rhodes you've still got to prove yourself !

Hi,

The guy running this thread named "Horse" must be a stupid idiot to have Irish on a British list. Why not just make it a European or World list if you are including non-British boxers? Uneducated moron.

McDermott isn't that bad though and Williams did beat him. His loss to Sprott was almost 5 years ago now, so I don't think that should be held against him too much.

He hasn't done all of that stuff recently though has he? He won the Lonsdale belt outright over 10 years ago. In the last 10 years he has not beaten that many good fighters.

So, yes, I do think he has to prove himself to be a good British champion, during his current reign.

I did not put Irish fighters on my list (an entire year ago) to be controversial. I was unsure about whether a number of fighters were British or Irish, so I thought it would be simpler to include Irish fighters in the list.

I don't know why so many Irish posters have come out of the woodwork to have a go at me this month, but I think a lot of them need to grow up.

agree Horse, dont see the big deal.
as such you discuss Irish fighters in the British forum, so I take it if ever you post an Irish fighter up here we are all allowoed to wade ain and tell you to feck off to the current scene and post it there.

Or how bout we all chill and we can all discuss sensibly without getting our xenophobic knickers in a twist about it all.

Putting "(Irish)" next to their name, or something like that.

no problem . :TU:

I would have thought they might be interested to see where the Irish fighter fits in in the Brit ranking personally.

Its not like you can do an Irish top p4p is it?

Next week Ill compile the Bajan top 2 p4p. its a very short list.
But at least we wont have any trinidadians in it...ohhh no.

Now that you mention it, there is an Ireland's Top Lb for Lb list, just recently compiled by Dan Horgan out of Boston:-

http://www.boxingherald.com/news/117/AR ... 08-18.html

And the fact that it's even mentioned that "surely you'd like to see where the Irish compare"... snap out of it- it's that type of omnipotent attitude that makes people like me, post on bigots' pages. Oh I get it... Irish should be so honored to be on a British list? would ya fornicate off, ya dopes!

And there's nobody xenohobic on here. Just coz someone doesn't want to be British doesn't mean they I don't like them. I'm actually American (of Irish extract) but with the sence not to make assumptions that everyone should be happy to be picked as national that they do NOT belong. That's one of the main reasons Britain and the US are despised by some around the world-they think they're better than everyone else. That's what I don't like about my country (the US) and I understand the reason why others don't like us.

It's only got 5 boxers on it!

The putting (Irish) beside their name does seem a reasonable solution to me.
Sort of like the way Boxing News rates fighters not from Britain in the British rankings but puts the * beside their name.

Anyway to those mocking an Irish p4p list here is one I did out way back in June:
1.John Duddy
2.Matthew Macklin
3.Paul McCloskey
4.Bernard Dunne
5.Andy Lee
6.Brian Magee
7.Martin Lindsay
8.James Moore
9.Andrew Murray
10.Stephen Haughian
11.Neil Sinclair
12.Oisín Fagan
13.Jim Rock
14.Jason McKay
15.Patrick Hyland
16.Eddie Hyland
17.Henry Coyle
18.Paul Hyland
19.Michael Gomez
20.Martin Rogan

There would be a good few changes in that now, but that is just there to show an Irish p4p list isn't so ridiculous.
