They're computerised ratings, so no bias has come into play.

Yeah the ranking are doenw tiha computer simulator (big 250 word equations and all).

In my opinion, I would have Lewis around 09-12 of all time, so it's not that far off...

I'd have Lewis in the top 5, along with Holmes, Louis, Marciano, Ali....

He beat every man put in front of him, and the only other decent heavy he could have faced ducked him. Avenging McCall and Rahman losses is significant. He was the best heavy of the last 20 years in my opinion.

Top 5 is maybe a little optimistic, he may just scrape in.

Not really IMO. People may argue pre-prison Tyson was better, but if you're looking at total careers and records, his is phenomenal. He took out every challenger, he was a monster.

A frustrating one at times, but what power. Great fighter, one of my faves.

He's got to be top 10 and probably 5-7 on my list.

Strangely, beneath Holyfield.

There are good arguments for Holyfield, but if you take the last five years into account - which you'd have to looking back on his career - Lewis has to be above him in my book.

Great fighter though.....

Put it this way Hook, Lewis beat everyone he COULD face. The HW division was worse in his reign than all decades before it.

That's why I'm not sure he'd be better than Holmes. I'm not sure about Marciano. Size would be a huge factor for Lennox would be a sucked for his overhand right.

I'm also unsure about Sullivan, but I need to study him more first.

Yeah I agree with that, though let's be honest a fair few of them were supposed to go in there and deck him - Tua and Ruddock for example.

I'd have him at number 4, possibly 5.

David - Overall you could argue Holyfield achieved more, but if you're just talking at heavyweight I'd still plump for Lewis.

"Plump" being the operative word when it comes to most of today's heavies.

Holyfield loses to a prime Tyson in my eyes. Tyson just aged quicker.

Holyfield at his best. Would have been Lewis' worst nightmare. Granite chinned, good handspeed, solid pop and terrific bell-to-bell stamina and incredible self-belief.

As for Marciano, Lewis struggled to look good with shorter fighters. Preferred to knock over the big lumps.

I think Holmes was a more complete heavyweight than Lewis, more effective, if less heavy jab, better recovery.

Lewis v Holmes is a hard fight to pick.

Holyfield would have beaten Tyson whenever they met - 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2036. Holyfield simply knew Tyson was weak.

No way was the HW division worse in Lewis's reign than in the era of the junkie pimp daddy Heavyweight champ of the 80s before Tyson came along.

Snooze-a-thon 15 rounders were becoming the norm - that was dire. And Holmes sat on the IBF title conducting his own bum of the quarter campaign.

No, Holyfield never had an "era" or enough consistency to be put above Lewis. Sure, he beat a better version of Tyson, had a good win over Bowe, and Foreman and Moorer were pretty solid, too. But he could never string together more than a couple of impressive performances in a row and never dominated the division, even in reputation, never mind results. He is/was a phenomenal competitor and his results speak for themselves, but they don't put him over Lewis IMO.

Agree. However, Disagree with the last sentence.

Tyson would have won Pre-1990 easily. Had Tyson had a Normal Boxing career like everyone else, Tyson would have easily acheived alot more than Holyfiend and lewis put together imo. Obviously that never happened.

I think around 9-12 is about right for Lewis. Even though he Beat everyone he faced, his loses to Mccall and Hasim will put a Question Mark when making hyothetical fights with big punchers. Hasim and Mcall were both good no doubt, very good, and deserving to be World Champ at some point. But had that been someone like a Prime Tyson, Prime Foreman, Prime Shavers or something, Lewis would still be on the Canvas even now

As high as 7 as low as 12, pretty much sums it up for me.

16 Jimmy Bivins 4 Floyd Patterson and 21 Jack Dempsey are better examples of the computer getting it quite wrong.

And if Mike Tyson had fought a prime Lennox Lewis the night he fought Buster Douglas or James Smith, both within his supposed prime, he would have been beaten too. Hard to pick Lewis' worst performance and extrapulate it to meet the best of Tyson, Foreman etc.

Tyson was terrific but Holyfield knew he was mentally weak. Had the best of Tyson fought Holyfield in 1990 - Evander would have won.

I await the Bert Cooper assassination.

Holmes title defenses were pretty horrible, and he arguably lost to the better 1s like an old Norton and Witherspoon not to mention the losses to Spinks who'd be taken out in a round by Tyson. Now compare the following opponents:

Holyfield-Norton
Tyson-Weaver
Vitali-Berbick
Tua-Shavers
Rudduck-Cooney
Rahman-Witherspoon
Bruno-Spinks
Mercer-Bonecrusher Smith
Morrison-Marvin Frazier
McCall-Williams

Lewis's are generally much tougher opponents and he performed allot better against them. Holmes also has allot of dross on his record

Ironfight is ranked 60th and should be far higher. He'd have been big trouble for ANY heavyweight in history.
