Original post actually rating nobody higher than no-one else. ACTUAL words were "(Cotto) is ALREADY mixing in far better company". Dispute that. I have nothing but respect for Ricky Hatton the boxer and Ricky Hatton the man BUT I find it really, really alarming the way his career is going.

TRUE PROVOKED GOOD DEBATE THO HEY!

as they say.... its not how you start its how you finish, I have my concerns too but it just seems at present Hatton and his career are being made unnecessary punchbags at any given opportunity, which I feel (obviously quite strongly) is a bit unfair.

N'Dou is a good opponent for Cotto. Cotto's beaten some former lightweights and now he's fighting a full fledged light welter who's coming of a good performance against America's no.1
im not sayin he isnt, what I am alluding to is that a lot of people slated hatton off for looking at fighting Ndou.

You then quoted Ndou's performrance against mitchell, so I quoted phillips especially as a counter argument as apparently phillips was an "over the hill ***" not your words I know but its said on here quite often.

which unless she went drastically down hill in between fighting mitchell and hatton blatently he wasnt a ***!

I know I probably look like Im over defensive of hatton here but Im not, i want him to mix it with the best also and cant wait til he fights the marquee names. I just find a lot of this criticismn has double standards and is slightly unfounded in that all I also want is that people are consistent in their appraisals of the situtation.

If Cotto and hatton are of a similar level (agreed by most people here) for different reasons admittedly. But say they are, how is Ndou a shit opponent for hatton and good one for cotto.

Apply the same rules to two similarly ranked fighters. Its called being fair in your criticism.

And yes I know Hatto has had more fights but if you look at his record he is being brought through the ranks more slowly and late sub pedersen was a step up form the likes of Smith, no disrespect to steve.

thats all.
I don't think N'dou would be a shit opponent, he's exactly the kind of guy Hatton should have fought already, along with Witter and Urkal and imo a rematch with Magee. Everyone wants to see Hatton mix with the elite you're right, but let's face it he hasn't done an awful lot to stand in front of the younger lt wlter crowd.

This is it. He can fill the MEN just by announcing he is fighting. No opponent necessary. This is all well and good from a financial point of view but you can only eat stiffs for so long before they become bad for your health. He cuts up terribly remember. What it one of these lightweights gets lucky and opens his eye? It's a risky game that is doing his reputation here and in America no good whatsoever.

All you Hatton cocksuckers, don't forget that Cotto has had less fights than Hatton. That's all that matters. If Cotto had've beaten two former top 10 players as Hatton has (Phillips, Tackie) then we could chastise him for doing so. But in Cotto's present career path, this is a step up. N'dou wouldn't have been a step up for Hatton (on paper) but on paper it is for Cotto. However, I expect Miguel to do a number on this guy.

You know who you are

the term hatton cocksuckers, when I have been defending him on this thread leads to a pretty heavy implication that you are referring to me and others.
Dont take rocket science.
I still say theres no need. Have some respect.

For who?

I don't know you as a person, this is a forum. Also, there's no defence for Hatton. No-one (who knows boxing) is blaming him for the stiffs he fights, it's allegedly.

how many times have we heard this sort of thing? Its not just Hatton, its the same with Calzaghe. Frank W is jerking the public big time. Old Wazza should take a leaf from Arums book.

Cotto is the future of the division, Ricky is the future WBO champion.

I read this forum every day, even though I don't post that much (starting to rectify that slowly) but, as has been mentioned above, the difference between considering N'dou as an opponent for Hatton and Cotto os the relevant experience of each fighter. Cotto fighting N'dou just now is the ideal match for him, in his 20th fight, he's making his intention to step up to that next level. Ricky, meanwhile, has had 35 fights and is yet to fight a 'live' opponent as such (apart from Eamonn Magee). N'dou is just coming off a superb display against Mitchell, which shows he is still highly competitive in the right division, not lightweight or super-feather.

So, it's not double standards, it's a matter of what is being expected of each fighter judging by their experience and talk. There is constant talk from Ricky and allegedly that they're ready to make the move, 2004 is going to be their year, etc etc, yet here we are on the run up to June 5th and it's looking likely Ricky's going to be fed another victory. Meanwhile, Cotto is making his intentions known and stepping up to the plate whilst being much less experienced professionally. There's the difference.

I would like to think i do mate, If I have a go its at someones opinion and I dont generally slate people off like that .
I know I had a go at nasty not so long ago and in fairness regret that but I think that you will find it hard to search for a serious post of denigration in that manner by me.

anyway moving on, apologies if I came accross a bit pompous and officious not my intention just dont like being called c-sucker haha

and CERTAINLY dont practice that despite the allegations haha

i feel a libel suit coming on haha :o

Hypocrisy?

N'Dou would be Cotto's 20th fight, Hatton's 36th!!!

This is a natural progression fight for someone of Cotto's ability and potential. Hatton is (insert tongue in cheek) a "World Champion", with 35 fight experience, and is undefeated at that.

So he shouldn't be fighting (38 fights, 6 losses) Lovemore N'Dou...

"hypocrisy of the highest order"? Hmmm...... :-?
