Its so lazy, so "boxrec forum" to post "Khan has no chin" and leave it at that

The problem is that he has no defense, and as a result cant see big wide shots coming in and gets hit by big punches that he should be slipping.

To call Khan "chinny" after getting decked by the left hook he took is laughable

Get Enzo Calzaghe on the case. Get some of that Welsh fear into him.
Personally, I think it's a combination of chin and defence. Even with a headguard against Watson he gets dropped badly:

Send him for a weekend in Rhyl, that'll make him or break him.

Are you insane? Enzo's teaching of defense and landing the first shot are terrible, look at Enzo Mac, Joe C is fantastic, yes, but his defense isnt

There are possibly two options. His chin is insanely poor, in which a tight defence will be alright but will get broached at some point, cue knockout.

Or he can turn attack into defence and use movement and flurries to off-set the other guy. It is amazing how often you watch Calzaghe shoeshine and think (about the other guy) "It is deceptively simple, throw a right hand". Granted Joe can take them but if they can get Amir's attack to be that successful his chin may become harder to beat.

Otherwise who can he get? Manny Steward is the best trainer in the world and may get khan hitting with more power but will that improve Khan's chin? Floyd Mayweather Senior is good but his advice between rounds for Stevie Forbes was awful, he has worked with Oscar during a period in which Oscar has failed to win a 50-50 fight (although Oscar has lost most of his 50-50's throughout his career), so maybe he is a guy who can come in to polish a finished product, although with Oscar he could not polish a turd.
Both Enzo M and Khan made 'the mistake', that esoteric error that no one understands, only Enzo Calzaghe can erase that mistake, and yes I am ripping off 'Robocop' here. Robocop could not run, apart from that one goof when he ran out of the way of the car, but he could smoke fools. Amir could become the most exciting fighter in the world under Enzo.

Plus Enzo is great TV. 'Tache from Italy, hair from Ireland, translation by Dylan Thomas.
Have you seen what Mayweather Sr has done with Guzman? His defense has become similar to his sons while before it was very very raw

Khan's chin maybe breakable, but look at Ruiz/Lennox/Judah all went onto be world champions after being brutally ko'd in the early rounds. Using defense with fast feet and beating your opponent to the punch

Calazage fighters take punches to land punches and that wouldnt play into Khan's strength with his chin

If manny Steward is the Best trainer in the World, no wonder the Games Dying. He is connected, he had good trainers at the Kronks who did the work, He was the Mouthpeice.

Good call, I think Manny would tighten up Amir's balance and positioning, and make him less vulnerable, but at some point, he is still going to get hit - at top level. The only way I see Amir winning a world title, unless it is a vacant strap against some scrub, is if he becomes a devastating starter, who overwhelms his opponents and knocks them senseless before they can tag him, sort of like a Tommy Hearns type fighter. Even Tommy's chin was better than Amir's.

Trouble is Manny these days works with too many fighters, and is too much of a gun to hire, he also seems to be more interested in managing fighters and getting a nice cut of their purse than developing new stars from scratch. He still knows the fundamentals, but I don't think his heart is really in it.

Fighting in defensive mode just won't work, you still need to have a decent beard to execute that style. I don't think I've seen a world champion with a chin as brittle as Amir Khan's appears to be, or at least nobody springs to mind - you need to be able to take a solid shot without going over at top level - and Amir simply cannot every time we've seen someone tag him with a flush solid shot he has gone over.

Wladamirs is also terribly brittle at the top level, but he has a good 6-7 inches in height on most opponents (usually).

Can anyone think of a fighter who looked to have a poor chin that "developed" to take shots better?

I know I bang on and on about the guy but Joe Gooseen could work well with Amir, plus he doesn't have too many other guys at the moment meaning he could focus on Khan.

Or how about Dan Birmingham? Teach him some of Winkey's high gloved defence?

Terry, one guy who doesnt get credit for Lennox developement is John Davenport his first coach. He developed his style, it was that silly pudendum they got in after that caused the problems. Even as a 17 year old any one would have loved to work with the Kid He was a special Talent

Also theres nothing worse than working with a Fighter while theres a pantomine going on, done it a few times its aggravating to say the least. As a novice a Fighter as a rule doesnt get much advice, when a star He gets a lot from people who havent got a clue, and its usually wrong :D .

You are laughable. You have been on here all week denying Khan is chinny. And you are the only one saying it. Despite being hit hard for the knock downs he was shaken badly before that, which actually set those shots up, plus he was hurt against Limmond and down against others. China chin - sorry you don't think otherwise, but you are wrong.

People always used to complain under John Davenport he wasn't developing, which he didn't seem to be. Seemed quite clumsy and off balance and just getting by on natural talent v Mike Weaver and Gary Mason.

Cotto. Some just don't have the legs if they're fighting at too low a weight.

Oh yeah i def was not saying that Pepe Correa brought anything to the table, he was frickin useless, agree totally.

You must have some pretty sweet stories if you were in that gym with Lennox all that time, did he ever spar with any names?

Khan s chinnyand pnly moving up in weight will save him - even then - he will most likely get knoked out again and again and have to be rescued from himself just like Michael Bennett.

I said it before - KHAN SHOULD RETIRE and one more KO loss and he will.

Just watch.

It's all well and good talking about Stewart, Goosen, Roach, whoever, but I'm not sure if it’s a viable option unless he moves to the states. I'm not really a great fan of these top class US coaches taking jobs with Brits and only flying over for the last couple of weeks to 'finish off' the preparations when some other shmuck -- Lee Beard, a former amateur coach whoever -- takes the burden of the workload.

Khan doesn't need rough edges polishing off, he needs wholesale work to his style that should have been ongoing from day one, but hasn't. He needs to be working full time for 12 weeks before/in between fights for a year with his new coach, not with Mike Jollie (I think that was his old amateur trainer) before Mayweather Sr or whoever comes for a couple of weeks.

The other point that is ignored, I believe, is that half of the attraction of the American coaches is the sparring on offer. We just don't get it in the UK, and a 3 month stint in the Wild Card would do wonders for him, on that level.

I think OH should get a recall as an advisor/2nd help- he knows Khan(T) better than anyone.

Won't help his chin though!

How good he was in the past is a side issue, supposedly a lazy trainer now, plus rumours of a cocaine habit (not sure if that makes him more or less lazy  )
