Klitschko and Sanders weigh-in

Post by bennie »

Sanders, fully-clothed, weighed in at 235 pounds. I suspect his true weight is closer to 225.
Klitschko removed his shirt and weighed in at 245.

I must say, that picture certainly seems to portray a huge difference in the uptightness level - Vitali, shirt off and flexing hard, doing his best "I must break you" glower, whereas Sanders' body language seems to be saying, "flex all you want big fella - I'll do my talking in the ring Saturday night." But it's hard to really tell from a still shot like that.

both of them are insanely relaxed, especially Sanders.

i think you can get him 9/2 at best. I know prices have gone down in some places because of big bets, and some Vegas bookies aren't taking anything....

Best prices I've seen:

VK 1/4 SuperOdds
Sanders 4/1 Ladbrokes
Draw 40/1 widely available

Is it just me, or is Vitali's height grossly overestimated?

Sanders is 6'4" and looks only a couple of inches shorter, Lewis only looked about an inch smaller in the ring too, and he's 6, 5". I think Vitali is actually only about 6'6" not the 6'71/2" - 6'8" he's normally quoted as being.

Why does sanders have his shirt on though, that worries me that he's not in that good shape.

I don't think Sanders has ever had a physique that says "watch out I'm dangerous", except perhaps when he was towering over Bobby Chyz moments before that 2-round hammering.

He obviously isn't looking to make spectacle of himself, just wants to get in there and throw his bombs. Shit I really want to watch this fight live.

Like Corrie says, the pressure is on Vitali tomorrow. Sanders has nothing to lose really, not many are expecting him to win and he's got a nice career in golf waiting for him.
And with 10oz Reyes gloves - this is going to be over fast! Vitali better make sure he's warmed up in the dressing room: Sanders always come out throwing bombs.

Incidently, this must be the first time two white guys have met for a legitimate heavyweight title since the days of Rocky Marciano, isn't it?

What's Harry Enfield doing in the background, didn't know he was a boxing fan!

What is it about Reyes gloves, I've heard some professionals stating that they are preferred by big punchers....?

Yes they're know as the punchers gloves - definitely smaller, not sure if less padding or not...That's Tom Arnold in the background, who's joking with the fighters seemed to fall a bit flat.
Good to see James Toney giving them some stick!

The difference between Reyes gloves and normal gloves is enormous. They are much stiffer and harder and more tight around your knuckles- they also hurt your hands more. Also, they give you more confidence when wearing them, but equally, when your opponent is wearing them as well you can really feel the difference.

This is terrible. I can't stop laughing, and every time I try and stop I scroll up slightly and see Harry Enfield's grinning face looking at the camera...

The very thought of Harry Enfield getting to stand in a privileged position behind the cameras where he gets to leer into the camera with his 'Smashie' expression is making me splutter again...

In response to Vitali being shorter than he is listed:

Here is an expanded version of that picture. Vitali is in his socks and Sanders is still wearing his shoes.

And when they were both fully clothed:

I would say Vitali is around 6'7, not sure about 6'8 though.
