Laura Saperstein results from Thailand

British professional boxer Laura Saperstein has been flown into Thailand to face Thai girls and has won twice (Aug. 8 and Aug. 29), but neither has been reported to Boxrec, it would appear. Who is the liaison for Thailand. Could someone look into this, please? Thanks.

I was in Beijing for the Olympics during her fights so I was not in attendance. Whether or not Damrong was, I don't know.

Were her bouts televised?

Who was the promoter?

Who were her liaisons for the fights, the promoter or ?

Thank you for taking an interest in this.

She said she went through the Thai Boxing Commission, which flew her in for both bouts. On her Facebook site are photos of the former and a video of the latter, which is also on Youtube. The first was a mixed card with Muay Thai bouts, and a friend of hers named Kris fought in an MT bout.

The bouts definitely occurred and were not reported. When she got no response on the first one I had her write down the name of the opponent for the second, and the video is further proof.

She said she has contacted Thai authorities, but gets no response. She fights again in Thailand on Monday, so I will not be able to ask her any more questions until she returns after that. I will try to get more names, but the first card is definite, and the second one is the first of the two listed, I believe.

Thai Boxing Commission? Do you mean as in a Muay Thai commission or the Thailand Boxing Commission, which is not legally a boxing commission? This is actually irrelevant if the fight took place but I'd like to know.

Also - what Thai authorities is she contacting?

With regards to her fight on Monday, where is she fighting?

Went back through my correspondence with her and can add the following details to the conversation:

The second bout (8/29) was at Sara Buri (not the other ones I listed), and I believe that is where she is fighting Monday.

Following is a quote from her in an early e-mail about the confusing process she has been going through on these fights:
"It's so confusing. this whole business of getting permission from the BBB of C and then them getting in touch with thailand, etc. ... i really don't understand. i've emailed them to ask, but had no response as yet. don't get it ..."

Maybe you understand the international promotion issues better than I ... Can't nail down what body/promoter in Thailand, but hopefully she can provide more info after Monday.

I will be inputting the information shortly however I'm having a hard time bringing up the links as for some reason they're not working for me - not sure if it's my internet or what.

On You Tube she's got that the fight on the 30th was in Bangkok - if the fight was on the 30th then it wasn't in Saraburi. Today's fight is not showing in the system.

If she's dealing with the Boxing Board of Control then that's good as they're the organization she needed to contact. The reason she's having a hard time with people reporting her fights is because in Thailand, women fighters are just not important. In fact, her fight is not showing on TV .

The promoter is One Songchai Promotions. You can have her contact me directly and I'll get whatever it is I need from her and one or more journalists I know. This sort of problem is the reason the BBC needs to get their act together and start sending BoxRec the results from all fights. Neither Damrong nor I can be at every fight, and in her case, being a relatively unknown woman here in Thailand, the fights are usually not televised.

Her You Tube fight and the email she sent Brad Vocale both say the fight was in Bangkok so we need to figure out what's what.

Surasit - before you go calling a person a liar, you should know what you're talking about - and you don't. Her fight was at Pathumthani Stadium, not in Saraburi. She never said she fought in Saraburi, someone else did. However, I know for a fact the fight took place at the stadium...

With regards to the other record, we don't just enter records because someone says a fight took place, especially not a promoter. Why would I enter a fight simply on the word of a promoter? That's not how it works...the promoter or the fighter's manager or the fighter needs to send me a CD of her fight if Damrong or I am not present at the fight or don't see it for ourselves. With the women, Thai TV almost never televises their fights if they're not title fights.

If the Sports Authority of Thailand or the Boxing Board of Control would start submitting the results to us, we wouldn't have these problems. Records from the TBC don't count either.

She is not a liar, and neither am I. We got the date/location wrong. Probably my fault. Neither one of us is from Thailand nor speaks the language. We made an honest mistake. The fact that the bouts took place is irrefutable. There is video and photographic evidence.
You likely would make the same type of mistake if transplanted to a nation where you did not speak the language and you received no confirmation reports from the promoter.
Apologies for the confusion, but none for trying to help the lady get her record straight when she was getting no other help.
