Top 10 guys Hatton can beat?
Top 10 guys Hatton can beat?
Which of the top guys at 140 can Hatton actually beat and why?
And of those who would be the easiest and most probably match up made by allegedly? And why does Hatton keep Warren his manager Hatton can't be so dumb as to see what Warren is doing should do something about it seriously.

I hate to rain on anyone's parade (OK, I admit I make an exception when the parade has a Wicky/Wawwen float ;)), but there's a small technicality to consider here, namely to have a chance at beating a top-10 guy he'd actually have to fight one. I for one am not holding my breath as to that occurring any time in the foreseeable future.
But Warren would probably say that someone like Corely has a rank but does not seem dangerous and thinks that Hatton can take this guy out and not look bad in doing so. And if I recall im pretty shore Corely would come pretty cheaply I dont think he made much against Judah or and Bailey his other top fight.
I really like those British domestic scraps. The atmosphere is so much better than you see in the U.S. It just seems like Warren could create a pretty big event with that fight.mrbassie wrote:either there's a grudge or he knows something about Hatton fighting slicksters that the rest of us don't. Hatton has fought several crappy fighters when it could have been Witter, when he's fighting Tackie's or Phillips's then I don't mind, but Rios and Smith? :x
Bassie, do you still reside at Fightworld?

Excuse me, but I don't see the option for "None of the above".{amateur} wrote:Which of the top guys at 140 can Hatton actually beat and why?

I'd say, at this moment in time, Hatton would probably beat most of the fighters on that list bar Cotto. Don't jump on me guys, because my reasoning is more than a little tenuous in places.
Firstly take Tszyu off the list. I think he'll only fight once or twice more, and Hatton is not a big enough name to even be considered a potential opponent. My guess is that Tszyu recovers from his injuries, has a super fight with Gatti and then retires.
Secondly (and at this point it's all conjecture because Hatton hasn't fought anyone at the same level as these guys, and as the esteemed Norseman infers you have to see him fight at this level before you can be certain how good he is) i think it's all about stlyes. Hatton has a stlye that works against almost every other stlye there is. IMO it takes something special to beat a good pressure fighter.
1. Respectable Power (enough to stop Hatton in his tracks). This counts Spadafora out for a start.
2. Fast accurate counter punching. You need to discourage a fighter like Hatton quickly. Best way to do it is hit him very regularly every time he comes in and tries to land his own shots. Mitchell can be very good at this type of fighting on his day.
3. Be a better pressure fighter. How good is Hatton when someone is willing to play him at his own game. Gatti is more than capable of fighting fire with fire. Again i don't know how successful this would be because we don't know for sure how good Hatton is. If he's as good as Warren wants us to believe then this tactic could be suicide.
You don't need all three, just one could be good enough. That brings me on to Cotto. Every indication is that Cotto's going to be a star. From what i've seen there has been nothing to suggest otherwise. He has only very few minor flaws in his style, he already looks a very complete fighter. I feel that he's going to be the top guy in this division before long, but there have been so many fighters who've shown this kind of promise before so i won't get carried away yet. He is the one guy on that list that has all three qualities and even now he beats Hatton hands down IMO.
If you can't be bothered to read the above here's my conclusion.
Hatton beats Spad, N'Dou, Urkal, Corley and Hurtado fairly comfortably.
Mitchell and Gatti will be two very tough fights for him and i don't feel happy predicting the outcomes without seeing Hatton step up from his current level of opposition.
I haven't seen much of Harris so can't really judge that fight.
Tszyu is in a different league to Hatton, they'll never fight so why speculate.
Cotto beats Hatton easily.

I am probably gonna get blasted for this, but why do you think that Gatti is enough of a pressure fighter to beat Hatton, Hatton has faced everyone he has been allowed to face and in Magee and Tackie he has faced world-class operators, I think that Gatti had at least one great fight (probably the best I have ever seen) against the mediocre Ward and on the strength of that entertainment is holding a belt (got an easy fight for the belt). I cant see Gatti lasting against anybody else in the top ten on their day to be honest.

Fair points about Gatti. Here's my reasoning.bugs wrote:I am probably gonna get blasted for this, but why do you think that Gatti is enough of a pressure fighter to beat Hatton, Hatton has faced everyone he has been allowed to face and in Magee and Tackie he has faced world-class operators, I think that Gatti had at least one great fight (probably the best I have ever seen) against the mediocre Ward and on the strength of that entertainment is holding a belt (got an easy fight for the belt). Thing is he's a known quantity Hatton isn't. With Gatti we've all seen what his level is. The fight against DLH showed his limits. He isn't an elite fighter but is easily top ten material.
Hatton on the other hand is still relatively untested. Magee is a decent fighter verging on world class, but Tackie is nothing more than a solid bottom end of the top ten fighter. As shown by the scorecards against Tszyu, Mitchell and Hatton. The cards suggest that Hatton is on a par with Tszyu and Mitchell, but unless he fights them we won't know if he is or not.
This is why i'm not sure whether or not Hatton can beat Gatti. As for Gatti not being able to cut it, you may be right but at least with Gatti you'll probably get to find out.
But 140 without Gatti would be boring!bugs wrote:I am probably gonna get blasted for this, but why do you think that Gatti is enough of a pressure fighter to beat Hatton, Hatton has faced everyone he has been allowed to face and in Magee and Tackie he has faced world-class operators, I think that Gatti had at least one great fight (probably the best I have ever seen) against the mediocre Ward and on the strength of that entertainment is holding a belt (got an easy fight for the belt).
