Points for a Draw?

Post by allamerican »

do you or should you receive points for fighting to a draw?

I know it's been on here before but how do you get and or lose points in your ratings system?

Shouldn't you get more points for a draw rather than not fighting at all?

just wondering.

thanks

1) whether you get points for a draw or not depends upon the ratings of the boxers before the bout.

The higher rated boxer loses points, the lower rated wins the same amount of points.

The amount of points depends upon the difference in the ratings before the bout.

diff = (rating_higher - rating_lower)/7

2) all boxers lose points by a rate of 2 percent per year - so they need bouts - successful bouts - to keep their pointage or to improve it.

Hope this helps
