LINK: Resizing the big men

Post by DavidPayne »

Andrew Mullinder takes an interesting angle on the age old debate. Could the heavyweight from by-gone eras really hang with their bigger, taller modern day contemporaries.

Does the size disparity make mythical matches between Dempsey and Lewis meaningless?

Using the growth sseen in the general populous over the same period, Mullinder extrapolates fighters' height and weight to 'modernise' their attributes.

e.g. Jack Johnson becomes a 240pounder?

Maths, the final frontier.

It's a good read and the kind of exercise I have indulged in when arguing it out with friends.
