I'm sorry but I'm just not suprised by this.

'We will change boxing' Yep, pull the other one!

Hayemaker promotions will prove no different to 99% of all of the other companies. David and Booth's aim is MAKING MONEY, not sharing money.
Do they REALLY care what we the paying public think? tut tut tut, don't be silly.

A top 10 opponent? Ask anyone for there current top 10 heavy's and I may be mistaken but I can't see Chapman been on there.

Even Johnson is not right. It's hardly a statement of intent now is it?

'Their asking too much money' boo hoo, welcome to heavyweight promotions. Did Haye ever except the short end of a purse? I wonder!

This fight will be a joke.
Hayemaker is just another promotional company.

If he is confirmed as the opponent I would be looking to get your money back Emerson - an early ugly blow out would be onthe cards in that fight.
Why did you buy your tickets so early?

true enough @ rhino

was thinking that myself

He is tall. If he throws straight shots and has decent handspeed he might be a problem

But then his record realy is full of mid-western moose hunters and they are not normally as tough as the south americans

Totally agree, there justifying an oponent just because It might be top 10 In any of the 4 sanctions.

Haye has made alot of money already, he was getting rediculous paydays even before being european time fighting In Leisure centres.

Booth and Haye both look pretty embarrassed here. I think they have an awful lot to learn about the business and I'm sure the 2 Franks in particular will have enjoyed todays press conference. They have been very naive in this whole situation and I think fans but more importantly Setanta will soon tire of the "nobody wants to fight David" line. The best way to go about business is to under promise and over deliver, when you over promise and under deliver then you've got problems.

I hope Chapman doesn't take it because it's an awful match. For my money he's not much of a step up from a Bobby Gunn or Damon Reed. Haye was ridiculing Matt Skelton as an opponent but awful as Skelton is I'd still prefer him to Chapman.

OK, so you think Haymaker should pay some inflated fee to get some "name" to turn up, then lose money on the show and go out of business?

In fact, they should let everyone in for free and give them a free hot-dog whilst they're at it!

Well as long as it shuts up some fantasy island poster on Boxrec, thats fine..

OOOOHHH 'Stop the press hold the phone' DUMMY!

Lok at the previous Haye press releases.

We WILL bring the big names.
We WILL make the best matches.
It's not about money it's about the fighters and fans!

WHATEVER!

I think not Galaxy!

Haye could always take a bit less to get the opponent he's promised.

Take your head outta your ass boy, if you can't do the business then don't talk the business.

Hasim Rahman ain't going to be coming to fight for chump change, the guy is a former heavyweight champ, and if he thinks there's a chance he might lose, he'll want damned well paying for the priviledge.

I think this is one of the difficulties for Haye. The Cruiserweight division is one of, if not THE least prestigious weight class, and there are no superstar fighters, and no money to be made as a cruiserweight champ.

If Haye wants names on his record, he'll either have to be the opponent, or his promotional company are going to have to fork out some serious wonga for the promotion to pay both fighters. No top 10 heavyweight is going to risk his record against Haye for peanuts, and therein lies the problem I think.

Sweetscience,
Please show me the post where I have said the opponent would be brilliant and the undercard better than Khan.
It's one thing having a ruck on the boards - but with respect you're talking bollocks.
All I have said is wait until the opponent is announced, and the undercard announced, then make up your mind.
Same applies to me - I'll be happy to say it's a shit oppo and shit bill if that is the case.
Now like I say - show me the post.
KG's post sums it up perfectly.

I hope so mate.

Ray Mercer was floated around on Fightnews yesterday as a possible opponent. That is completely unacceptable. The guys 47 now and a million miles from his prime. I couldn't see the BBBC accepting him though.

Kevin Johnson isn't a bad opponent though he def isn't a name. Chapman isn't acceptable.

The way this fight has been mooted i expected it to be Rahman, Maskaev etc

Hopefully Golden Boy will allow some of there talent to fight on the undercard.
