the fighters get 4 grand for getting into the ring and 8 grand if they win, i think if you took this out and had the idea what was said in the begining of this thread would be a good idea. i dont think the likes of the journeymen would have been to bothered losing imo luke simkin made 12 grand on the night nb if u ask me.

I enjoyed this one and the last one, the last one i was there for it and it was such a great atmos, this one on the telly, but nice to see some good action.

I think the better 1/4 fights were the ones not involving Sexton and Burton, simply because they were that much better technically. In the last one, no offense but they were none of them great boxers,(Dolan prob. most skilled that night) but they all came ready for a tear up. This time out, you had two men that were so much better than their oppos that they could half afford to make a boxing match out of it. Despite that we had some good moments, Simpkins did well I feel in his semi.

As for future events, i dont think its on to simply say, 'ok, get a crew of brawlers in', thats not really boxing is it, we might as well go watch cage rage, it isnt what we are here for.

I like the idea of a bonus for KD etc, but like someone said, whats to stop someone colluding?

maybe a bonus for over 150 punches thrown (i dont think anyone threw that many in 3 rounds on friday, i could be wrong)

but tbh i enjoyed it so i wouldnt change too much. nice to see it will be at a new weight tho.

The thinking is probably "Heavyweight = Big Punches = Lewis/Rahman style KO's. The reality is that our heavyweights are pretty dire. They lack the power, speed, technique, sharpness and grace needed to land the KO blows. That leaves us with the other type of heavyweight fight, the holding/mauling messes.

Drop the series down a few weights and bring in guys who are fit and punch sharply, they will throw more punches in the shorter time and we will get better fights. The heavyweight one if good in theory but in practice does not stack up.
That's what we've got coming up! :D

The welterweights are on the 24th of October and then the Middleweights will happen afterwards. I'm most looking forward to the middleweights, so hope it's not going to be too far from me. I'm pretty sure I'm going to the welterweight one in Crawley.

Good points, but the final was a cracker.
