2009 U.S. Championships

USA Boxing is planning on going back to having the U.S. Championships in June instead of February/March (the usual annual dates) just like they did in 2007. They posted this info on their website.

It is actually better for a lot of people, BUT the local and regional tournaments might already be set in some areas of the country. Deposits paid on venues and things like that. It happened in 2007, but at least this time USA Boxing is giving more advanced notice so many LBC's and Regions might be able to change their dates so the LBC tourneys and Regional tourneys are later. Hopefully around mid May for the LBC tourneys and end of May or early June for the Regionals. I just hope USA Boxing conducts the tourney in later June so people have a little time to recuperate after going to the NGG. It would be really nice to host the LBC tourney at the same time as the State J.O. tourney and the Regional tourney at the same time and place as the Regional J.O.'s. Saves travel costs for the boxers and coaches and saves money on tournament costs for the host of the tournaments. It will also hopefully increase their revenues to make the tournaments profitable to host.
