Getting a doctor for boxing show
Getting a doctor for boxing show
I am considering asking a doctor I know to work at a show we are putting on in a couple of months. Is there an info sheet in the rulebook (or something else) I could provide him with that will let him know what will be expected of him? I'm sure he may have questions so that would be helpful.

There is a Physician's Manuel which should be available from Colorado Springs. You can email Lynette Smith at [email protected] and ask to have one sent. Good idea to have it before he actually sits ringside.

Thank you boxmel.

It is always great to get more doctors involved. I know that it can be difficult when you are asking the same doctors over and over again to give up their evenings or weekends to work an amateur boxing event. Like anyone else they will soon get burned out.

Everyone should thank the ringside physicians along with all the other officials for giving up their free time to perform their duties at a club show or tournament. They are volunteers just like the coaches.

I would like to know the percentage of docs who are volunteer. We have to pay ours in my LBC - they don't volunteer.Everyone should thank the ringside physicians along with all the other officials for giving up their free time to perform their duties at a club show or tournament. Maybe they get paid a small fee around here too. It isn't much if they do. A lot less than they would make by working in their office for those hours.

We are very fortunate to have a husband and wife that work at Johns Bopkins and love boxing so they do a lot of shows and get a very reasonable fee. Plus the Physicals go fast and if there was a problem and had to leave we have backup.

Our docs get paid anywhere from $200 up.

Hal - are you only typing with one finger again????Johns Bopkins

No, Hal uses the generic version for his medical treatment.
Bal gets his B's and H's confused all the time, but so do I.
