This should be Brooklyn, New York -- you certainly don't want to start breaking out all of the communities in Brooklyn as fights were held in Coney Island, Williamsburg, Bensonhurst, Canarsie, Boro Park, Greenpoint, Red Hook, Bushwick, Gravesend, Midwood, Sunset Park, etc.

Why shouldn't we want to be as specific as possible, Mike? If an editor happens to know a bout occurred not merely in Brooklyn generally, but at Coney Island specifically, I would think BoxRec visitors would want to know the latter. I would. ric

The problem for we non-American's and non-New Yorkers is that we don't know where these places are apart from in the New York area so can only enter what is given in the source, in my case usually a newspaper.
Just to highlight the problem sometimes I come across Canarsie Stadium in Brooklyn and other times just Canarsie. Is Canarsie a stadium in Brooklyn or a suburb of Brooklyn? Very confusing but as Ric says and JohnShep has indicated some people want the exact venue.
The other thing I worry about is putting in the weights all the time. It can help with fighter identification, it is relevent for heavyweights and should be mentioned when there is a significant weight difference betwen the fighters but it does tend to beak up a record.
Perhaps when John re-designs the format he can look at all of this (in the comment section) being to one side or even being brought up with a click as Ric has done some times with biographies / descriptions on other sights. It will make the record appear seamless.

I am a former New Yorker, and realize it is sometimes impossible to pin point and exact location within New York City. Especially when there were professional fights going on 6 days a week at various locations, such as The Ridgewood Grove, Sunnyside Gardens, Eastern Parkway, Jamaica Arena, St. Nickolas Arena,etc during the 1930's and 1940s. The best solution I think is to enter the location (arena) as a comment.
