So Rubio got sacked because he suggested that Khan should fight a real lightweight with a punch. If only he picked a featherweight. He would still be there.

I thought if you wanted to become a world champion you need to fight boxers in your weight class. Rubio just wanted to see what Khan could do to a limited lightweight who could punch. The answer was absolutely nothing.

It'll be back to feathers/superfeathers for the next 2 years! Then he'll get KO'd again when he fights another legit lightweight.

Khan needs to be took back stripped down and brought back to BASICS basic footwork basic jabs and straight punches basic hook and rips to the body. PERFECT SUPERVISED PRACTICE.

Khan is already a good outside fighter but he cannot fight inside he needs to be taught how to sit on a chest and punch short, That way when he is in close he wins the inside work or at the least he learns to cover up and not get hit .

But regardles off anything he don't need a fly in cornerman he needs a FULLTIME BOXING TRAINER

IMO, Khan still has the potential to be World Champ one day. He may not have the best of chins, but he has other utilities such as speed and combos to make it there. He really needs to start working on defense.

IMO, Khan still has the potential to be World Champ one day. He may not have the best of chins, but he has other utilities such as speed and combos to make it there. He really needs to start working on defense.

You can have a great defense but at the top level the elite fighters will still find a way through. Then to stay with them you need a decent chin which Khan hasnt got. Khan will not get past Euro level. Pacman would slaughter him, even if he does improve his defense.

Amir Khan has split with trainer Jorge Rubio, promoter allegedly has confirmed.

Rubio was in Khan's corner for just one fight, his 54-second loss to Breidis Prescott at the MEN Arena earlier this month.

The Cuban had been brought in after Khan split with Oliver Harrison in April.

Following the loss to Prescott, it emerged that Rubio had recommended the hard-hitting Colombian as an opponent.

Khan will now begin the search for a new trainer ahead of his return to the ring on December 6.

Veteran US cornerman Freddie Roach emerged over the weekend as an early front runner.

Knives are out then it seems - no love lost between Calzaghe and Warren - should be fun to watch it unfold.

What Joe says about Khan however, is entirely true, he simply cannot hold a shot. He's been stopped, dropped three times as a pro, and once in a very short amateur career - he is chinny.

Whilst I think Khan should be defeating the likes of Prescott if he is to become a world champion the jump up from fighting super feathers with no power to a large lightweight with a 90% stoppage ratio is bad management. Khan was unprepared for being hit with that kind of power, that's why he rushed in and was totally open (throwing a body shot with his left whilst in range?).

Maybe Khan would always have been hit and been stopped, but if he'd been brought along properly imo, he would have lasted a lot longer than he did.

I feel for Rubio but after the fight Warren made it clear where he was placing the blame. Khan is still very much a work in progress and i'm not sure having a trainer whose priorities lay elsewhere with other fighters is the best idea. Although Roach is a very good trainer, I can't see team Khan all upping sticks and heading to the US, reckon this will be another Alex Arthur type situation.
