Ryan Rhodes V Jamie Coyle
Re: Ryan Rhodes V Jamie Coyle
Rhodes seems a nice guy and this final phase of his career will be fun but his defence isn't good enough.
Whats with significance of 26 with Rhodes? I've often wondered

Since I assume that is a town or county somewhere in England, I would guess the weather to be rather shitty, cold and rainy.twenty six wrote:Pongsaklek,

Ah ok, that´s Warren´s place. Well I´m sure he´d at least be amused about the positive feedback from commentary and fans alike about a main event, that was on paper a huge mismatch. That Rhodes managed to go 12 rounds with a poor fighter like Coyle doesn´t change that fact. What would people say if Enzo went 12 rounds with Bobby Gunn?DG. wrote:twenty six wrote:Pongsaklek,

Pongsaklek,
What's your beef ?
If you've filled your boots - be happy.
Don't spend it all on blow up dolls though, invest in a puncture kit.

Hayemaker promotions
Hayemaker got off to a good start in Sheffield. Some good prospects. John Watson looks pretty good. But Derry Mathews suffered an almighty KO.

Pong - Whoever you are, you're a spinelesss SN cock smoker.
But whatever way you look at it, that was a poor showing. Coyle was no shakes, made him look competitive.

Mate, I´m not even british. If I wanted to suck the dick of a local promoter, who milks the uninformed public with BS world title fights, I´d stick to Universum.Captain Hook wrote:

He is a nice bloke Emma, but you put far too much stall on how they look and their table manners.
If being polite and nice was all that mattered Richie Woodhall would have been in the p4p top 10
It was a poor performance against a piss poor opponent and I'd steer clear of Pryce/Small and co on that showing. Any thoughts on the performance twentysix? Disappointed, or was he just not at the races?

I think you're being a bit harsh - though it's all about opinions. If he has pretentions of boxing at the top level, he should be getting rid of opponents like Coyle, for sure.Captain Hook wrote:He is a nice bloke Emma, but you put far too much stall on how they look and their table manners.

But the Jock was absolutely inspired. Ryan hit him with a hell of a lot of shots and he just wouldn't fold. The end of the tenth was astonishing. Then again, as I said in my report, if Ryan had gone all out for a decent spell, IJL would perhaps have stepped in. But that's not how he fights.

Re: Ryan Rhodes V Jamie Coyle
Maybe, and I have no issue with Rhodes, but Coyle - despite raising his game - was a guy he should have got out of there within six if he's realistic about being on a par with Moore and Pryce.
Like I said, perhaps he was just not at the races, but if he turned up below par against Moore or Pryce it would be a painful night for Ryan.

Re: Ryan Rhodes V Jamie Coyle
I thought hyis legs went after a couple of runds, the spring went form his step and ryan was quite easy to hit. Coyle didnt seem to know what to do when shots were coming his way, how many times did he cower and turn his back?
I suppose the other side of the coin everyone is entitled to a duff performance and ryan would rather have it with coyle than someone else.

Aye...but how many times did he cower, turn his back, then turn back round and throw shots? Plenty. And a lot more than most would have done.Wales wrote:I thought hyis legs went after a couple of runds, the spring went form his step and ryan was quite easy to hit. Ryan is easier to hit than most people think.
I don't particularly think it was an off night...I'll give Coyle the credit for incredible desire and endurance rather than slate Rhodes...though I can certainly see the other side.

Re: Ryan Rhodes V Jamie Coyle
One thing's for sure - whatever I say, and in whatever context, it will be twisted and construed in a certain way to feed the posters who have suddenly appeared from nowhere to support the Squire of Hertfordshire.
Anyway, for what it's worth here's my take on things.
Coyle is a very tall rangey boxer who to look at deceives the eye.
Rhodes has had problems with fighters of this type before - Blundell for instance.
Maybe that was in the back of his mind - not sure but don't believe it was.
When I saw him at the weigh in I made the dangerous assumption he was not in condition based on his physical appearance.
What I can say now, having watched the fight up close, is that there have been many opponents of Rhodes who would have wilted inside 4 rounds. Coyle was a credit to the sport, and to his family.
Tommy Gilmour tried to pull him out on two occasions but he was having none of it.
Sometimes boxers rise above all expectations when given a chance to win a title.
Having said all of that, yes, I expected Rhodes to finish the fight inside the distance and he didn't.
I was happy with the first 5 rounds, thought he went to sleep in the middle rounds, then came back strong.
Some of the shots Rhodes hit Coyle with were painful on the eye, so how he took them, and even better responded by throwing leather I don't know.
There have been some disrespectful things said by certain posters on this thread.
Rhodes is wise enough to laugh them off, but those posters have been insulting to Coyle.
They owe him an apology.
I am big enough to say it wasn't a sparkling performance by Rhodes - more business like.
What does that mean going forward ? Well, let's wait and see.
I will however give you this guarentee.
There will not be a queue forming to be his next challenger which in itself says a lot, if he's there to be taken.
Tomato cans, Bums, Clubfighters ?
Doesn't apply to either fighter.

Re: Ryan Rhodes V Jamie Coyle
To be fair, I think Coyle has been performing beyond his natural ability in his last few wins. If there is a win for most improved fighter I think Coyle would win this. Like to see him against the likes of Portman, Woolcombe, Conception.
Moore, Pryce, Small, Rhodes way too good for that level - but I think the fighters in the second tier - and you can maybe add Matthew Hatton, Francis Jones and a few others should they want to move up - then it would be nice.

Re: Ryan Rhodes V Jamie Coyle
i dont think it was an inspired performance by coyle at all.Taking his kids to disney land or whatever is cute and all but he looked like a loser from the start.
ryan rhodes will not get past british title level.Moore who is easily the best at the weight in britain would end his career and price and small would stop ryan aswell

Francis Jones has already sparked Coyle as has Karl David.stujones wrote:To be fair, I think Coyle has been performing beyond his natural ability in his last few wins. Andrew Facey stopped Woolcombe quicker than Rhodes.
Maybe "Old Spice" has lost his power
Re: Ryan Rhodes V Jamie Coyle
Yes, I know Coyle got sparked by Jones and David - but he has improved since then.
