Froch - "Calzaghe running from me"
Froch - "Calzaghe running from me"
"Big credit for Pascal for taking the fight. I've had two so-called superstars flat out run from me this year in Joe Calzaghe, and Jermain Taylor.
"It's been very frustrating this past year having Inkin pull out twice, Calzaghe continue ducking me, and Taylor opting to fight Jeff Lacy in a potential eliminator rather than fighting me for the full WBC title," Froch said.
Not being funny Carl, but what has Calzaghe got to gain from fighting you ? Absolutely nothing, not even money !

Re: Froch - "Calzaghe running from me"
You've got to hand it to him.
Persistant - but after a while, boring.
Frochy, when will you get it through your head that you brought nothing to the table ?
Concentrate on getting there, then dictate the terms. It ain't rocket science.
Your obsession with Calzaghe is getting even more tedious than Witter's obsession with Hatton.
If you win the title, and Dean Francis agrees to boil down to the weight, will you give him a chance ?

Re: Froch - "Calzaghe running from me"
The Funny thing was Carl called Joe on an ITV pre Hennsey show , and Joe told him straight with no catcch, that he is not a big draw, to get some names on his resume, make some noise and then it can happen!
Carl accepted it and gave Joe respect, and to now see Carl talking crap makes me think what an idiot he is.

Re: Froch - "Calzaghe running from me"
Calzaghes could have fought Froch instead of fighting Manfredo, Bika, Ashira or Salem, but he chose not to. That had fcuk all to do with Froch not being a BIG enough name as the people he fought were less of a name then Froch, JC sidestepped the Froch fight for easier fights simple as.BAMBI wrote:The Funny thing was Carl called Joe on an ITV pre Hennsey show , and Joe told him straight with no catcch, that he is not a big draw, to get some names on his resume, make some noise and then it can happen!

These latest comments from Carl are probably to see if he can drum up some interest in the bout for when he's the Champion of the world on December 7th, just abit of groundwork IMO

It is called risk reward ratio. Calzaghe took all those fights because they were low to no risk, and in Manfredo's case, also paid very well.Chambers2 wrote:Calzaghes could have fought Froch instead of fighting Manfredo, Bika, Ashira or Salem, but he chose not to. Whether Calzaghe could beat Froch or not, I think Joe is smart enough to know he poses something of a threat, and yet offers very little financially, Joe would be the draw, not Carl.
Carl has done nothing to warrant a tilt at Calzaghe. I like Froch, but it is a fact that he hasn't earnt the right.
Re: Froch - "Calzaghe running from me"
If Carl spent as much time concentrating on his own career, as he does Joe's, he might be able to actually become a credible opponent for Joe.
Right now, he ain't.

We both know this Calzaghe-Froch argument inside out and both of us have valid points IMO, the arguments are all based around the risk:reward ratio. I think that JC should have fought Froch instead of the boxers I listed above as he's at the very worst he's in the same class and it was a BIG Battle Of Britain clash (which I have a soft spot for), but I appreciate that it's an idealistic view as there are numerous obstacles in the way (warring promoters being a BIG stumbling block, Ashira and co were probably abit cheaper than Froch, Ashira and co were definately less of a risk to JC than the Gifted Cobra....)

Thats right twenty six, i like Froch but he is starting to sound like Witter ,very annoying. Froch should win the title then he can call out the big guns and earn some money but by this time Calzaghe will be retired.
Re: Froch - "Calzaghe running from me"
CF definitely seemed to go quiet for what seemed like months after JC obliterated Jeff Lacy. It silence was tangible considering what he'd been like before.
Do you think Froch would have beat Joe that night?
I don't.
Great news about this show though, I hope Froch wins I might go , sounds like it will be a belter. Doesn't sound like an easy task what with Pascal having won C'wealth Gold as amateur.
Can anyone tell me if Froch has any International Amateur pedigree, apologies for my ignorance..I'm pretty sure he's like a single or double ABA Champ at home.
Also it's probably early but any word on the bill? anyone think Witter will get a run out, seem to remember the Bradley fight being on a shared bill with The Cobra.
Might make the trip for this.

Froch would most likely get the Lacy the treatment If Joe gets fired up like that again. Froch Is a slow come forward plodder to and was wobbled by a shot Reid's counter right hand.
Re: Froch - "Calzaghe running from me"
Never mind 'being wobbled', didn't Salem put Calzaghe flat on his arse!Max Molyneux wrote:Froch would most likely get the Lacy the treatment If Joe gets fired up like that again. Froch Is a slow come forward plodder to and was wobbled by a shot Reid's counter right hand.
Froch has never been put down as an Am or Pro, so even with your revisionist history of the Froch-Reid fight I don't see how it's applicable to JC-Froch! Especially considering Calzaghe couldn't punch the skin off a rice pudding these days

Froch has probably never been put down but he has also never been in the ring with anyone of statue, and Joe may not be the biggest of punchers but he can box !

Manfredo brought a FUCKIN MASSIVE PAYDAY as he was a former contenders star, Calzaghe got a crowd of 35,000 and a multimillion pound payday as a result, for a very easy nights work.
You are answering your own question. Calzaghe has already fought the best of the 168 lb fighters in Kessler, why is he going to fight Froch, who would undoubtedly want paying very well himself?
Ashira etc, were marking time opponents, they didn't need paying too well (with the exception of Mafredo who probably got a nice payday), and they enabled Calzaghe to keep sharp, whilst waiting for bigger fights. Ashira as I recall was a tuneup for Lacy or Kessler, forget which.

As far as I am aware Froch was made an offer to fight Calzaghe, but refused it - He also could have joined SN, but refused it.
Both times scuppering his chances of a Calzaghe fight.
It's all very well blowing a lot of hot air about what Calzaghe should be doing, but let's see Froch mixing it on the world stage a bit first, because so far he hasn't.
A fight with rowntree's fruit pascal isn't particularly inspiring either.

Re: Froch - "Calzaghe running from me"
Froch is ridiculously overrated. He will get brutally exposed once he gets to the top level.
Calzaghe would knock him out with no problem at all.
This is not a fight JC has to justify not taking... Froch isn't even close to his level.

Re: Froch - "Calzaghe running from me"
At least, credit to Froch for wanting to do it the direct way. He was Joe's top contender, but when did Joe do things like fight top contenders, mandatories? Why fight top contenders when you can make up the rules as you go along?
Hopefully all goes well and Pascal turns up and Froch wins the WBC belt.
I felt Froch made Joe look a bit silly on the ITV programme. Sure, Joe won't take it because it doesn't "bring the money the money the money." Makes me wonder, why didn't Joe fight ppl that would bring "the money the money the money", before 2006.
Joe seems to have waited everyone out. Waited til the younger champs were willing to travel. Waited til the big, big names were ancient. If Joe is a modern great, it's because of stamina and longevity.
Re Calzaghe-Lacy. A perfect performance does not make the perfect fighter. Look at the dreadful performance Joe gave in his subsequent fight. Joe was flapping and flailing, he was feeling Bika's strength, getting marked up (punches and fouls), and was falling over in clinches.

What are you on about ??? alot of fighters avoided Joe up untill 2006 because he was in a similar position to Froch wasn't big in America, and everyone feels Bika's strength he's a very strong underrated fighter
Re: Froch - "Calzaghe running from me"
I do wonder if Bika, Ashira, Manfredo, Lacy, Hopkins or Kessler can bring about 12,000+ fans to support them ? the answer is certainly NO.
Froch is fighting for the WBC title on ITV prime time.... Joe earned his WBOgus strap on a Naz undercard.
And funny how Hennessy made a counter off to Calzaghe for millions to fight Froch at the Nottingham Forest ground(backed by Sky TV) which was turned down flat... nobody mentions that do they?

What are you on about ?? Hopkins vs Calzaghe had more than 12,000 at the fight, and i'm sure Kessler has a massive following back home, Joe had many fights on ITV when he was in the same league as Froch. I like Froch but he's not in Joe's league !!!!G0mez wrote:I do wonder if Bika, Ashira, Manfredo, Lacy, Hopkins or Kessler can bring about 12,000+ fans to support them ? the answer is certainly NO.

I said.....
Would they bring 12,000+ fans ?
Kessler brought about 4,000 i read.
Bika brought zero... Manfredo zero... Evans Ashira... zero...
Calzaghe's fans are worse than the man himself - trying to reason why a fight SHOULD NOT occur !
