Rob Burton...help needed

Post by bennie »

Anyone seen him fight? I know he's a southpaw, but that's all I know. Strengths, weaknesses, and his chances against Matthew Hatton would be greatly appreciated.

Bennie,
Speak to Dave Coldwell, of Koncrete Promotions.
He'd be delighted to give you the low down.

Rob's a very strong, brave fighter that loves a tear up and he always features in good exciting fights.I think,to be honest and not biased,he's going to beat Hatton..inside the distance.I don't think Matthew is going to fight Rob,probably give him lots of angles and pick his shots from range to start with. But i think Rob will wear him down and stop him late.

Only seen Burton once and that was when David Walker dismissed him easily. He seemed out of his depth against Walker's punch power but wonder if he had much notice for the fight.

If Hatton doesn't sustain bout-ending cuts, I think he can win on the scorecard. Decent matchup for an honest title....surely Dave Coldwell's idea? :)

"A small but vocal crowd was treated to a competitive card at Barnsley’s Metrodome on Tuesday evening. It was a traditional small hall show an entertaining night featuring local lads wanting to impress. Silky skills may not have been apparent but there were some good, old-fashioned scraps!

Barnsley’s Rob Burton headed the bill, beating Sunderland’s Paul Lomax on points over six-threes. Burton was always on the front foot and other than the first session, which I gave to Lomax, he dominated throughout the contest. The referee seemed to agree, awarding a 59-55 decision.
Lomax began to tire noticeably in the fifth as Burton kept up the pressure. His nose bleeding, a little desperation showed through as Lomax pushed Burton to the canvas. The Sunderland man never gave up and was still punching at the final bell.
Burton was billed as the Central Area welterweight champion but weighed in just over 11st 3lb and his future could be at light-middle."

He was on the same bill as Danny Thornton. 8)

Thanks all. This is a good match. Burton at home is clearly a tough foe for anyone.
