Swaby back in against chisora

Post by funso banjo baby »

fresh from prizefighter Lee swaby takes on unbeaten prospect Derek 'del boy' Chisora.

derek has started to move now....his profile has rocketed after former victim Sam sexton took the prizefighter trophy with 3 hugely impressive performances

Chisora can move into the british title picture within the next 12 months

so we've got ... Del boy....Rogan...burton...Dolan (who isnt finished at HW by any means) sexton......millarvie (if he can stay fit)...jegeni...and that big cuban in ireland

all of which makes the prospect of the next generation taking over from the old warriors much more exciting

IMO 8)

Was sexton up on the cards, or am I remembering the fight wrong?

Fury was being linked to a pro debut recently, Price will surely turn over now the Olympics is done and Dallas recently turned pro. All decent-good Amateurs in their day, very big lads with decent workrates too.

The domestic scene will throw up some decent fights over the next 2-3 years. Big guys who actually come to fight and in pretty good shape too!

Dave Howe is a dark horse in this division.
VERY early days.
6' 8'' and 18 Stone.
Gets my vote - he's a Sheffield lad with Glyn Rhodes.
One to watch.
Scrap is on the inside - he knows the kid.

Whats the background on this Howe fella?

Any Amateur pedigree?
Seems to have turned over pretty late in life.

Don't know a great deal mate, but I do know Fury and Price had to stand up and take notice during sparring sesssions.

How old?
Listed as 28 in the Rankings.

I'am always a little dubious of huge guys that are previously unheard of and are tipped for the top on the back of gym sessions etc.

Any new addition is welcome to Domestic Heavyweight Scene though!
Good luck to the fella. Hopefully he is a good fighter and will have a say in the Scene.
He has certainly made the right stat with a 1 round blowout. Let's hope he keeps active, especially if he has not had much Am experience.

Howe is trained by Howard Rainey
Didn't look too impressive when I saw him in the amateurs but I hear he did well the other night.

mukel -he's not the fighter from the Ingle camp.

The problem was He played Volley Ball for England and wanted to Box for England. The coaches wanted him in the set up but only having 7 bouts it was hard for them to select Him. Then He got robbed in the Novice Semis Having the other guy over 3 times in the 1st. At this time He was playing at it, then something clicked and He became serious about it. Today He signed a 3 year promotional deal with Frank Maloney so glyn tells me. He improves every week, theres something about the Kid and He is fresh He can Whack got a very good chin Biomechanicaly sound will get better.

Howes seems dedicated enough, debut fights are always hard to get a good picture of a boxer sometimes, as they are over excited, and rush things.

See how he looks after his 3rd or 4th fight.

I will reserve judgement until I see someone crack him on the chin.

Once biten twice shy: many moons ago I thought Pele Reid was a nailed on dead cert to bring a world heavyweight title back to Brum.. :o

As heavyweights they always need a decent chin, as you say lets see what happens when someone whacks him back.

As for Pele, i thought the same thing at one time. Thought he was our best prospect for a worldclass heavy at one time.
