Calzaghe belt up for grabs...

Post by bennie »

Germany's Mario Veit meets New York-based Egyptian Kabary Salem for the WBO interim super-middleweight belt in Dortmund on May 8.
WBO champ proper Joe Calzaghe challenges for the IBF light-heavyweight title held by Glencoffe Johnson on June 5 in Manchester; should Calzaghe win the title and choose to stay at light-heavy, the winner of Veit vs Salem will be recognized as WBO super-middleweight champ.

Right. Watch Joe pull out of the Johnson clash a week before the fight and emerge fighting Veit a few weeks later.

Have any of Veit's 12 wins since Calzaghe suggested that he is a better fighter than he was then. That first fight was just embarassing, surely there are fighters out there Jan something or other dutch kid, Beyer, Mundine, etc who could be approached about getting the WBO (or adding the WBO to their belts), or is it just because Veit could fight in Germnay for years after winning the belt and fill the void left by the equally poor Ottke.

Bugs, you putting Veit on the same level as Ottke is a disgrace.

Veit actually has some skills.

Yes, you did. Very interesting. Warren was hailing the show as his biggest ever a few weeks back.

It will take a good bill to beat Collins vs Benn II, Hamed vs Molina, and Bingham vs Wright.

I wonder when Warren last staged a show with a proper world title fight on it (WBA, WBC or IBF).

In that case we might as well assume that Veit has already won the belt for obvious reasons
