Hatton-Mayweather partnership....What can Floyd teach Ricky.
Well this is a tough one as Ricky will be 30 years old when he fights Malignaggi...and the thought that springs to mind is...old dog...new tricks....but....
Floyd is a proven world class trainer and Ricky can adapt his styles which he has proved on a few occasions. The question is can he adapt his style at this stage in his career to be affective against someone like Paulie Malignaggi....??
My answer is yes but Mayweather Snr has a tough job ahead of him....as we have seen Ricky's stamina is not quite what is was and he will need to be in great shape come fight night because he will need to take centre of the ring and use his boxing skills if he is going to beat Malignaggi.....Malignaggi, as we know, is a skilled boxer and can throw fast combinations that will land on Hatton if his defense is anything less than spot on...on the night....
All this equates to is Ricky working with Mayweather on his fighting on the outside and his movement. Both of which have been below par for him in recent fights. Mayweather needs to encourage Ricky to slip more punches and get into better positions to throw his landmark shots....left hook to head and body....and his ramrod jabs. Rushing in throwing hooks and body shots are not an option in this case as Paulie will land too often and will score too many points...
The key is for Ricky to hurt his man early and control the fight after wards....hopefully Mayweather can tweak Ricky's style to be more economical with his punches and it should be a shut out or a late stoppage.....but we'll see...
Thanks for listening...!

i worry that hatton may have seen better days now to be honest , if he loses this fight where does he go next , to me retirement would be the only option no point becoming a shot fighter getting beaten by up and comers to pad their records and make them look good , in my opinion hatton has got to be at his most focussed throughout his training otherwise he will get stopped and i think could be made to look quite bad

Guard, head movement, jab, shot picking, I'm expecting Ricky to be much improved under Mayweather's toutledge. Plus what a story fighting the best in the world giving it your best, winning 3 rounds before getting ko'd, only to come back under your conqueerers's creator, his father who has now been betrayed by his own son. I can't see that it'll make much difference now. Hatton has been a pro for over 10 years. When it comes to the crunch, he'll do what he's always done: March forward, and try and wear his opponent down. Mayweather may well show him some stuff in training, but when it comes to fight night, Hatton will do what's natural.

He changed Bojado completely, although Bojado took it too far and lost too much of his aggression, and, obviously, was not living the game.
That said, I do beleive Mayweather may be able to help Hatton. Breaking at the waist, rolling his shoulders, and generally more head movement on the way in.
I won't beat Paulie in a jab and move fest, but he may by plying smart pressure.
We'll see. PErsonally, I think Hatton's past it; he's never, ever performed well against runners; and that he'll get beaten.

Nope, I think it was him.Khaosai-Galaxy wrote:How to sell crack to school kids, maybe?

Isn't that the reason for Roger training lil floyd? Floyd senior was spending his time making sure he didn't drop soap in the shower and exploiting the kindly nature of Mr. Barrowclough.
Re: Hatton-Mayweather partnership....What can Floyd teach Ricky.
Floyd was crackman. Roger was no-Holocaustman.
As KG says, class acts through and through.
Jeff seems to have a bit of class.

Floyd Jr. puts his dad and uncle roger to shame and that is saying something.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Floyd was crackman. Roger was no-Holocaustman.

No way is Jr worse than Roger. I think Jr just does it to sell tickets. Plus I have no problem with a big mouth that can back it up with skill.banjo wrote:Floyd Jr. puts his dad and uncle roger to shame and that is saying something.Emerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote:Floyd was crackman. And nothing can excuse the shit that Roger has come out with in the past. At least Floyd showed class after beating Hatton, Roger didn't.
Re: Hatton-Mayweather partnership....What can Floyd teach Ricky.
Yeah. Its easy to show class when you've just whupped someones ass off the ringpost thoughEmerson Poncey Name Ghent wrote: At least Floyd showed class after beating Hatton, Roger didn't.
I think Floyd Jr is basically alright, just has that small man insecurity. Considering his background he's done okay to be as rounded as he is

Any man that rides a Segway in his house gets my vote
Re: Hatton-Mayweather partnership....What can Floyd teach Ricky.
Do you really believe that? I remember talking to a friend and he said he was looking forward to Mayweather - Judah, because, and I quote, "one absolute c*nt will lose".chinny wrote:Yeah. that sums it up rather neatly, I think.

Cocaine abuse, Gun Running, Car Jacking?
I hear he's an expert in all three. Question is how the fornicate mis he being allowed to enter our supposed green and pleasant land is beyone me. we have enough problems already don't we without Floyd hitting our hood and adding to it.
He won't teach him shit, he will probably screw him up by trying to teach an old dog new tricks.
