Slightly O/T - Redbelt movie

Post by chinny »

Just got back from watching this at the flicks with the missus and we both loved it.

It has a Mixed Martial Arts theme which sounds rubbish I know but its by David Mamet and very very good.

Watch out for Boom Boom Mancini looking in better shape even than when he was fighting :TU:

Downloaded this one a while back.

Good film. It felt like one of those late 80s early 90s kung-fu flicks, like best of the best II ... only really well written with a helluva lot more depth.

I'd also recommend the foot-fist way, if you like trailer park boys you'll like it too.

There's a documentary film coming soon of a family that competes in Tae Kwon Do. Forget the name of it. Think it won an award at a Film Festival.

TKD must be the most maligned of all traditional martial arts - it comes in for a lot of stick, from the MMA crowd in particular, who single it out for its lack of real life application and reliance on flashy high kicks.

Still that documentary could be interesting viewing - I will look out for it.
