I honestly think he was okay, he took gatti the distance only to loose a very contreversial descision in montreal. Compare his CV to the likes of rios, pederson & stephen smith..... he's actually been in with a much higher level of opposition than hatton. No way was he a good opponent, come on!!
Hatton opponent... A new thought.

I've always dismissed posters who said maybe FW and RH camp are worried how RH would fare when he stepped up and thats why he'll never step up but I'm starting to believe it now. Do they know something us fans don't really get to see? Is Hatton chinny in the gym?! what is up with him that means they won't get him a real test any time soon?
What happened to the British fighters like Honeghan who went over to the States to take on one of the most respected p4p fighters (Don Curry) by nearly everyone in the boxing world? Benn could take a risk, McGuigan did, Herol Graham did yet our two best fighters in Britain right now are afraid of making the plunge into real world class. Calzaghe and Hatton are wrapped in cotton wool and they are not helping the sport.
TAKE A RISK FELLAS!!!! If you lose, come back and improve. I'd rather see you take on the best and lose one or two than go undefeated fighting has beens

Good post, you have to give it to Scott Harrison in that respect. He beat a former world champion (and we didn't know how faded aswell) in Tracey Harris Patterson in America. He really turned the crowd that night aswell.shakermaker wrote:I've always dismissed posters who said maybe FW and RH camp are worried how RH would fare when he stepped up and thats why he'll never step up but I'm starting to believe it now. I want to see a verbal bashing of FW and even Ricky if this next opponent is another nobody. I don't want to have to look on this site to see this guys record like I had to do with Rios, Pederson and Krivolapov. I just don't buy these bullshit excuses about opponents pricing themselves out of the fight or not wanting to fight Ricky. Its happened to often in regards to Hatton and Calzaghe, I mean what the hell!!? Joe is 30 and world class and is still fight the likes of that Armenian he fought last time. Who's to say the same is not going to happen to Ricky?
Why is it that a smaller promoter like Hearn can get Brodie 3 shots at the WBC title and Ricky or Joe (higher profile fighters) don't get shots at a meaningful title (or want maybe). Too hell with the WBO, Joe's last opponent was their No.1 contender. If they threaten to strip him then tell them to stick their meaningless title up their arses.
Joe and Ricky are content to be big fishes in a small pond its seems. It really is absolutely shocking that Joe has fought the likes of Pudwell and Mger Mrgchan this late in his career. Ive never heard anyone really get at FW on Sky either before or after Joe's last fight. Guys like Merchant and Lampey on American commentary can be very harsh sometimes if they see a mismatch like Margarito's and Rafael Marquez's last fights. Merchant called the card GARBAGE right on air. Darke and whoevers co-commentating seem to be afraid to really get the knives out on the promoter for putting a mismatch on, I wonder why. What are they afraid of?
I want to see the question really put to FW after Rickys or Joe's next mismatch if it is one. I want to see BRUTAL critisism from now on and on the tv so it really makes an impact.

Dunno, nobody got a refund when Hatton didn't fight Pinto, though I suppose the fact he fought on the bill still justifies that.
In that instance I think that the promoter probably is entitled to give refunds at their discretion.
However maybe it's different if someone fails to appear on a bill at all, surely it says on the tickets, anyone got one yet?

Yeah "card subject to change" is the important thing - its says that in the small print with PPV - remember the days when you had to phone to order it, it was pretty difficult to cancel the order.Wales wrote:surely thats like me advertising tickets for a manchester united game, you buying them then me saying "ah sorry they wont be playing now tuff tits"
Mind you, I bet he has small print somewhere saying "card subject to change"
Calzaghe was scheduled to face Telesco and Joppy last year aswell, according to the sky scheduling at least.
but that does happen mate when they put a 2nd string out for cup games or similar? No difference really is there?Wales wrote:surely thats like me advertising tickets for a manchester united game, you buying them then me saying "ah sorry they wont be playing now tuff tits"

...yeah...
Yes there is, your still watching the club you paid to see, not a different club altogether. Lets hope it dosent happen anyhow..... any news on his opponent yet, "were watching some vids over the weekend then we'll make a descision"

Maybe they're waiting to see if Jason Cook gets through his fight on Saturday......bennie wrote:Just contacted BN and there's no news at all on the opponent...not even a whisper. I wonder if the Hatton camp are waiting for Jesse James Leija to successfully negotiate a fight on Friday night in Texas. I just know allegedly would love to bring Leija over for Hatton. He fits the criteria perfectly: an old man with a decent reputation in the States, but cut-prone and liable to find a way out of a fight if it turns against him.

Yes that "subject to change" clause is on the back of the tickets - BM mentions it today, re the Pinto fiasco.stujones wrote:Yeah "card subject to change" is the important thing - its says that in the small print with PPV - remember the days when you had to phone to order it, it was pretty difficult to cancel the order.Wales wrote:surely thats like me advertising tickets for a manchester united game, you buying them then me saying "ah sorry they wont be playing now tuff tits"

Read a funny story of a guy who phoned up the Sky PPV number, in order to compain about the fight not being shown on the normal channel. He had no intention of ordering it, but he pressed the wrong button and ended up buying it

TBC = To be confirmed not legally binding.
Frank cant/wont pay both fighters its that simple. One time Hatton took a pay cut because American TV didnt buy it.I cant see him doing it again.
Its a well known fact hattons father hates frank and billy graham.
The simple truth is the Manc fans fans are subsidising FW by helping to pay for JC.Lets wait and see

No chance - too good a fighter to be called in for what's becoming a short notice job. More likely some hillbilly we've never heard of, with an "impressive" looking record built on stiffs.007 wrote:Spadafora won last night, apparently his promoter said he could be fighting again in about six weeks. Anyway, aren't they going to announce TBA today?
