I probably will buy it. Munroe is good value in my view. As for Hatton, it will interesting to see what else, if anything, he brings to the Malignaggi fight having worked with Floyd snr? I expect to see improvement from Hatton, so we shall see.
The 7th date is Bell v Haskins. Dont what the other TBA are. Perhaps one be Jamies euro bid. I can see Munroe and Booth and few others being on card from Midlands for Hatton fight.
Ricky Hatton and Paulie Malignaggi square up in Las Vegas in November in a light-welterweight 12-rounder.
Hatton, trained by American Floyd Mayweather after his much-publicised split with 11-year trainer Billy "The Preacher" Graham, is one of those rare worldwide 'draws' in much the way Manny Pacquiao is, and obviously a huge attraction at home. In Manchester in May Ricky outscored Mexican-American Juan Lazcano over 12 rounds in front of a crowd of 55,000, which speaks for itself.
That was Hatton's last outing and not altogether an impressive one. The Hitman was throwing punches without really 'thinking', without picking them, he was just throwing. Inevitably, when he slowed a little, he was tagged and even shaken by Lazcano's left hooks, in the eighth and 10th rounds, but was so far ahead on points he needed only to survive to win, and Hatton came back well with body punches. Before Lazcano, Mayweather Jnr - yes, the estranged son of Hatton's new trainer - picked Ricky apart in 10 rounds, up at welterweight, exposing similar defensive lapses.
Perhaps his split with Graham was inevitable. The quick, busy, aggressive Hatton needs something new and needs something new now at the age of 30. His level of performance in the States is mediocre at best, with only a four-round knockout of faded Mexican 'name' Jose Luis Castillo really standing out among seven appearances there.
Still, Malignaggi looked terrible on the same bill as Hatton's frenetic triumph over Lazcano as he overcame loose hair extensions (you couldn't make it up) and a broken right hand to snatch a 12-round split decision over former victim Lovemore Ndou. It was the fourth time Malignaggi had broken the right hand and potentially scuppered this showdown but the quick, flashy, brash, charismatic New Yorker of Sicilian descent insists the hand has healed well. One hopes he also gets a healthy haircut for this one, given his vision was severely hampered by those artificial locks against the aging Ndou, whom he had dazzled over 12 rounds last year in the States.
Since his first win over Ndou, Magic Man" Malignaggi has failed to convince. The aggressive but unheralded Herman Ngoudjo of Cameroon shook him up and cut him over the left eye earlier this year in another 12-rounder, before conceding a close decision. Then came Aussie Ndou again. Malignaggi showed grit and character to hold his boxing together both times - but if Ngoudjo and Ndou can extend him, what would the relentless Hatton do?
There is always a chance Malignaggi may have undervalued those two. Malignaggi made his name when he challenged heroically for Miguel Cotto's WBO light-welterweight title in Madison Square Garden in 2006, hanging in there despite an early knockdown and terrible facial injuries. He conceded a wide decision, but Cotto remains the only man to beat Paulie (in 26).
Mayweather, coincidentally, is the only man to beat Hatton (in 45).
At his best the talented Malignaggi jabs and moves and fires in the counters, standing his ground probably longer than is good for him. He's a typically proud Italian-American and definitely looking stronger under trainer Buddy McGirt - but speed and elusiveness are Malignaggi's strong points (only five knockouts). It would be foolish for him to trade with Hatton.
While the Brooklyn man's style (and personality) should blend well with that of Hatton's, and while Paulie celebrates his 28th birthday the day after the fight, one can see Hatton, fired-up to impress his new trainer, punching out a decision.

Yes, I imagine so - unless its like £20 or something. Good fight this one, I think it is tough to call with Hatton seemingly having a bit of a "confusing" training schedule. Its a tad similar to the Suraez/Steward relationship with Hamed. Rumours of piss ups/illness etc isn't good, although its still early(ish) in the camp.
Not me buying it personally but it falls on the same night as a friends birthday party so the chances are it'll be on there. If so then I will watch it.

God they're after every last dollar aren't they? That's what Hatton's once exciting career has turned into - I've no interest in watching the mighty Hatton chasing round the ring after his featherfisted foe. If he loses, so what? And if he wins, so what again.

No i'm not a big Hatton fan either, i def agree would rather watch a big fight with American's, Mexican's in etc. I've been over to Las Vegas for Oscar-Sturm/B-Hop-Allen, Castillo-Corrales 2, Pacquao-Barrera 2. All had much better undercards than Hatton-Malignaggi too.
I have a feeling it could be terrible to watch.Personally i'm hoping to go to Canada for Molitor-Caballero if so Hatton-Malignaggi is well on the backburner even if i don't go would far prefer to try to find it on the net.
Yeah I will buy it. Because it's a decent and interesting fight. I think there are many intangibles - ie - has Hatton 'gone', can Ricky cope with Malignaggi's movement in the USA especially.
Both are charismatic names. I think the hype and the interest merit a buy.
