It's hard to remain upbeat about it to be honest. I'm glad to top aussie SMW (i assume it's at SMW) will be fighting one another but i think it was more relavent when they fought in 2003. they are both past their best i believe. None the less, it's better than some of the mismatches we get, and it keeps them busy.

decent fight but its insignificant...not as though either of them are on the world title path these days.....i'd watch it though for sure

ps.mundine will probably call out the winner.

I am surprised this fight is happening.
I was under the impression Sam was looking at a decent fight in the US.
But if it does happen I will be watchin. I think Sam wins a UD.

The winner looks likely to get the winner out of Bika-Manfredo

soliman vs hamdan confirmed

Post by braden »

Hamdan promises to take five years of frustration out on Soliman

MORE than five years after Sam Soliman defeated Nader Hamdan on points to ruin his undefeated (32-0) record, the pair will fight again, in Sydney on December 3.

Hamdan wasn't pulling any punches last night when asked how he felt about the long-awaited rematch. "He is a fake. I am going to smash him. I can't wait to put my hands on him and batter him," Hamdan said.

"I am serious. With his pitty-pat punches, what's he going to do? The guy doesn't fight, he comes to survive and throws those weasel punches everywhere. Let him do it because I'm coming to get hit and hit, I'm going to bash him."

Hamdan's anger has arisen from years of lobbying Soliman's camp for the rematch to no avail - until he got a call from Soliman's manager, Stuart Duncan, recently.

Soliman, in contrast, praised Hamdan for taking tough fights overseas and views this as "a battler versus battler" event.

"I am the man who took his perfect record away; if I was in his shoes, that is how I'd be thinking - 'This is the first guy that took my undefeated record away'," Soliman, 34, said.

"I was 16-0 in kickboxing when I lost my first fight and I chased the guy for a long time and sorted him out.

"As I have always done, I'm fighting a quality fighter - I lost my last fight but I don't take two or three easy fights before a tough one.

"[Hamdan's] win-loss record (40-6, 18 KO) is better than mine (35-11, 13KO). I am willing to fight the best, a former world No.2- rated champion like Nader Hamdan."

But Hamdan was in no mood to reciprocate the love. "We were close. I've had him at my house and after our last fight, he promised me a rematch.

"Now, after all this time, they call - it's not for me, it's for their own benefit. But that's OK. I'm just glad to get an opportunity for redemption."

The two are world champion Anthony Mundine's most recent Australian victims, both having lost title shots on points. They will be fighting for the IBO super-middleweight intercontinental belt. Duncan said the fight card will feature speedsters Lenny Zappavigna against Lance Gostelow. John Hopoate and William Kickett will also be in action.

What a undercard worth PPV for me

The event has tentatively been booked at the Hordern Pavilion, three days before the monster US showdown between Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao

reckon this will be a good fightt between honest, though past their best, fighters.cant see hhamden winning.Soliman UD. assume its at SMW.cant see Nader making MW. begs the question waht is left of solimans career now.anyway hope its a good fight. nader been stirring this one up for a while -remember his comments after the mundine fight. also seems he bears some resentment to sam. well he is getting his wish for a rematch but just cant see him getting the win

Hamdan announced his retirement after the Mundine fight in February. His record in the last two years to then was very spotty. If they do fight, I can't see him beating Soliman.

Any word on where this fight is supposed to be? Geale has an IBO Middleweight Defense against TBA on December 5 at the Campbelltown Catholic Club. Two major fight programs in three days does not sound likely if it is in Sydney.

Sorry, much more interested in the two promising fighters in Gostellow v Zappa, is this real?

I mean a month ago Zappa v Elomar fell through, just curious as to how serious this is.

If it is real, then what a matchup.

Yeah, i agree.

But with so much talent around in the lighter weights thiers plenty of good matchups, but they have to happen.

It's rare since i've watched boxing that Australians get in the ring with each other.

This could be fantastic for boxing should they mix it up.
