Alex Arthur not a happy camper...

Alex Arthur today expressed disappointment over the fact he'll be defending his IBF Intercontinental title against a yet to be named opponent in Edinburgh on June 26
Arthur said: "I'm pleased to get back into the ring but I'm disappointed they're talking about the fight being a defence of my Intercontinental title as I really want to fight for the British title now that Michael Gomez, the WBU champion, has vacated it."
Arthur is also niggled by claims from promoter Tommy Gilmour that Craig Docherty is now Britain's number one super-featherweight.
"Tommy Gilmour should get together with allegedly and make the June 26 date between me and Craig for the vacant British title. What has Tommy got to lose? His man is the best super-featherweight in Britain, so I must be the underdog. So let's get it on."

Surely sky or the board should demand Arthur and doherty to meet. Sky need to demand bigger matches period.

I think the way it's going, everyone will be thinking it soon. Docherty is fighting decent opposition and improving. Arthur is fighting poor opposition and not learning.

Exactly. Very impressed by the lad recently and I would take him to beat Arthur. When you have such fundamental flaws in your game, to not have them tested or be able to work on them is very bad news indeed.

What makes Arthur think he deserves a shot at the British title so soon? Because he blew away some no mark African Bantamweight? Maybe if he fought the level of opposition Docherty is facing his argument would have some validity.

Docherty would take him.

Arthur isn't really clamouring for a showdown with Docherty. He's one notch away from a Lonsdale Belt outright and wants to pressure his management team - and the Board - into matching him for the vacant title. Jumping on the Docherty bandwagon is good PR, but his real agenda is that Lonsdale Belt.

Yeah, whilst I think Arthur has the more natural talent and he's the fighter I rather coach, I would tip Doherty to win. Craig doesn't do one thing special, but he hasn't got the fundemental flaws that Arthur has.

I think Arthur has got a case of being dissapointed, at least (well I don't think) he is not making any formal complaint.

Who is the number 2 contendor - Gavin Rees? Johannson? I think Arthur can feel a little aggreived Doherty definately deserves the #1 spot, but who deserves the #2 spot ahead of AA.

Alex Arthur is not expected to fight again until July after a freak injury.
The Scot was due to defend his IBF Intercontinental super-featherweight title next month but an accident while jogging has caused a knee injury that needs some rest.

Petulant Arthur...

i think arthur would spark him.
although beaten by gomez alex hurt him even after being on the deck.
he showed decent heart even in defeat imo.

Freak injury KOs Arthur

Arthur is waiting on a doctor's report on his injured knee
Former British super-featherweight champion Alex Arthur is expected to be sidelined until July after suffering a knee injury while jogging.
The 25-year-old Scot, who had been due to defend his IBF Intercontinental title next month, slipped over while training at the weekend.

A spokesman for Arthur said: "We are waiting on a doctor's report.

"We don't think it's too serious but we are trying to establish when he can train and then reschedule the fight."

Arthur's stablemate Scott Harrison has also had to postpone a fight after suffering a wrist injury.

The featherweight star was due to defend his WBO title against William Abelyan on 29 May but the fight has been postponed until 19 June.
