Terry - any chance of you being able to get a catch up with Hatton & Mayweather Snr together for BBN?

Guzman has looked better since having Floyd Sr on board, Guzman has always tried to lose weight at the last miniute and used diuretics to lose the weight, this time he didnt get away with itTerry D wrote: Graham may be a cantankerous so-and-so but if anything you have to ask if Juan Guzman was doing things on his own, after all he was brought into a 'fight' vomiting blood and overweight.

Joan and Guzman are the only words you need to say to Mayweather.
The fella wasn't in training properly, was overweight and must have been ill-prepared where was the Jive Bunny then.

Cantankerous - nice! In terms of what Mayweather Sr may say, perhaps that would be a waste of time judging by what he had to say on the 24/7 show, but I'd love to read the results of a one to one with Hatton, what he has to say about tactics for the PM fight, working with Floyd Sr., his current relationship with Graham etc. BTW - is Graham looking after Matthew Hatton now and is he fighting on Rickys undercard?Terry D wrote:Not really John. I am working on the media open day. Plus, I work full time so any interviews I do are with people I am interested in talking to and hearing about. That is not a dig or anything, I have ot be pragmatic with my time, and I do not think I will hear anything new or interesting there.johnswan1 wrote:Terry - any chance of you being able to get a catch up with Hatton & Mayweather Snr together for BBN?

Mayweather is a good trainer, but why does he need to slate other guys. Also, i'm suprised that Hatton is letting him talk about graham, whose his mate, and long time trainer like that.A bit dissapointed by it all to tell you the truth.
Re: Floyd Snr blasts Graham again - arrives in the UK today
Is Floyd Senior so insecure about his ability as a trainer that he must criticise others at every opportunity?
Re: Floyd Snr blasts Graham again - arrives in the UK today
He should try & make sure his fighter's in shape though.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Guzman has looked better since having Floyd Sr on board, Guzman has always tried to lose weight at the last miniute and used diuretics to lose the weight, this time he didnt get away with itTerry D wrote: Graham may be a cantankerous so-and-so but if anything you have to ask if Juan Guzman was doing things on his own, after all he was brought into a 'fight' vomiting blood and overweight.

Hatton's desciplined and solid on the physical preperation, hes not got the technical aspects to his game that would would move him up a level, FMS can possibly bring this out in himAutobarn wrote:He should try & make sure his fighter's in shape though.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Guzman has looked better since having Floyd Sr on board, Guzman has always tried to lose weight at the last miniute and used diuretics to lose the weight, this time he didnt get away with itTerry D wrote: Graham may be a cantankerous so-and-so but if anything you have to ask if Juan Guzman was doing things on his own, after all he was brought into a 'fight' vomiting blood and overweight.
I will re-iterate Floyd Sr has brought Guzman and Forbes on leaps and bounds and both men have performed at a higher level than they had previously
Re: Floyd Snr blasts Graham again - arrives in the UK today
Forbes was a world champion! Although I do think he has added an extra dimension to Guzman (when he fights!). Although I remain convinced that DLH has regressed alot under Mayweather. I was shocked that DLH ditched Roach. Okay, he lost his only fight under him but performed well and fair few thought he won. He has lost fights under Mayweather also and generally looked bad in a few of his fights.
I just cannot see the Hatton/Mayweather partnership working... they are chalk and cheese - Hatton loves his familiarity. I aint certain Mayweather has dealt with someone who is not a 365 days a year boxer... maybe Guzman (although nobody seems to know anything about him). Hatton did the same thing every time for years - yes maybe he has got stale and needs a change... but then I think the fighters Mayweather has had can be more adaptive than Hatton.

I dont think the problem is in the Gym, I believe its outside it. It usually is in cases like this. He has a wound and they are appling the wrong Dressing. ![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
Re: Floyd Snr blasts Graham again - arrives in the UK today
Mayweather Sr is a technical coach, the strength, conditioning and weightmaking might be down to someone else. But LOL @ blaming Guzman's idiocy on Floyd Sr, who's forgotten more about boxing than any British pundit/trainer.

Mayweather sr was an inept technician as a fighter incidentally.

I've seen him fight a couple of times and I believe that to be nonsense.Arbachakov wrote:Mayweather sr was an inept technician as a fighter incidentally.

He tried to be cute and probably knew a lot in theory, but was very sloppy and just not particularly talented in general.fast hands though i suppose.
Starling made him look like a rank amatuer in particular...now there's someone who knew a lot about technique.I would say Snr's abilities as a trainer are far better than his execution was in the ring.

I think those fights came literally after Sr was shot (in the leg), gave Sugar Ray Leonard a hard contest didnt heArbachakov wrote:He tried to be cute and probably knew a lot in theory, but was very sloppy and just not particularly talented in general.fast hands though i suppose.

Not sure if you are refering to me and my comments on Guzman. All I said is no-one seems to know alot about his lifestyle/background. Is he a guy who baloons up in weight, likes the beer/pies etc out of training - or is he a ticking over kind of guy.Gray-Fox wrote: But LOL @ blaming Guzman's idiocy on Floyd Sr, who's forgotten more about boxing than any British pundit/trainer.
DLH certainly was in his hey day and I would imagine get himself in reasonable shape way before training camp starts even now. Floyd is also a guy who can probably fight at any notice and be in great shape. All I said was I aint sure on Guzman.
Hatton is a very unique fighter in his 365 days a year activities, and its something Hatton has done for Years and will continue to do I am sure.
Question is though, how much of a long term solution is Mayweather. Supposing DLH captures the P4P title (as Hatton puts its) over Pacquiao - DLH has announced this week (worringly as a fan of his I must say) that Pacquaio is no longer going to be his swansong. We all know the Hatton vs DLH fight is going to be an easy fight to make, DLH will fancy it, biggest money for Ricky - its surely set in stone - providing both are successful. No chance will Mayweather leave DLH.
Re: Floyd Snr blasts Graham again - arrives in the UK today
I wasn't referring to you with any venom Stu.
Re: Floyd Snr blasts Graham again - arrives in the UK today
I found it interesting to read what McCrory had to say about Mayweather Sr's corner work for the Forbes fight. He said he was paying particular attention during each break to see what he was all about....... and all that he heard was Mayweather Sr telling Forbes to 'kick his ass' but without giving any intilectual breakdown of how exactly he should be doing that.
Mayweather Sr is full of wise cracks, but intelligent he aint. If he is as knowledgable as we are led to believe, and if he can read a fight so well, why was he failing to give Forbes any constructive advice during the breaks?
I dont doubt McCrory's words. I find it easy to believe 'Kick his ass' is just about Mayweathers limit.

Re: Floyd Snr blasts Graham again - arrives in the UK today
I would love to rubbish Mayweather's credentials as a trainer, because he's as dislikable as his son. However, he has improved Guzman, and DLH speaks very highly of him. Very highly.
Doesn't change the fact that he has a personality as foul as chlamydia discharge.

Re: Floyd Snr blasts Graham again - arrives in the UK today
He has improved Guzman based on what?
Guzman was always a class act with emmense natural talent, Stevie Wonder could train him to be a world champion!
